About this listen

Rescued from her alien captors, the only person who makes her feel safe is a cold, emotionless cyborg.

Abducted from her exploration ship, paramedic Sage McAlister has spent months locked in cells and labs belonging to the Edull. Rescued by the cool, powerful cyborgs of the House of Rone, she finds herself among fellow human survivors on the desert world of Carthago. But despite being free, Sage feels cold inside and is struggling to cope. The only person she feels safe with - who she doesn’t feel the need to pretend with - is a deadly cyborg who feels nothing.

Forced into a military cyborg program as a teen, all Acton Vonn remembers of his past are violent missions and the cybernetic enhancements forced on him before he broke free. His emotions have been dampened to nothing for decades and he’s fine with that. It makes him an efficient member of the House of Rone. Yet the more time he spends with the copper-haired woman he helped rescue from the Edull, the more unfamiliar, strange, and perplexing things he starts to feel.

When a tip reveals that more humans are being held captive at a mysterious desert lake, Sage will stop at nothing to help rescue her crewmates. As she is drawn closer to Acton, she worries about risking her heart. Being with Sage breaks down barriers inside Acton and he struggles with the emotions he doesn’t want to feel. But deep in Carthago’s dangerous deserts, with the Edull hunting them, Sage and Acton will have to risk it all: their lives, their hearts, their souls.

Sage and Acton

The series continues with Sage trying to deal with the aftermath of her abduction as well as helping the group find whatever clues they can glean about the Edull and their remaining captives.

Acton, who is very good at being unemotional, has been helping sage adjust, and the dynamic between these two is just wonderful. I love being able to continue on in this created world and become even more invested in the lives, losses, and successes that these people have.

House of Rone #3

Centurion is a definite page turner that tugs at the reader's imagination and heart. The action keeps the pages turning, while Ms. Hackett builds her world of Carthago, giving it depth and color. Her chacracters are solid and give the reader reason to root for them. A wonderful read. Enjoy!

Every one of Anna Hackett's books I have enjoyed!

I loved the action with all the different aliens falling for and protecting their mates. It's fluff not brain surgery. If it's not your style then find an alternative solution for your reading enjoyment. I like big, beefy, romantic men or aliens who meet, fall in love and cherish the women that are true mates to them and even the smattering of sexy scenes to us sexy starved older men and women, who live vicariously in the writing of Anna Hackett's and other authors of the same Ilk.
Hooray for fun reading.

Sci-Fi Goodness with Cyborgs and Romance

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really enjoyed this story considering I'm not usually into reading about Cyborgs!! Anna really brought out Sage's experiences and wrote them beautifully and heartfelt in the book. I love how it was Acton who paired up with Sage, and their chemistry worked really well together. Narrator Vivienne Leheny brought out the emotions and life to these characters.
Another Action filled book of awesomeness. Always looking forward to more by this Author & Narrator Team.

Ok

Book was pretty good; storyline was similar to other books in this genre. The narrator did a good job but wish male voices were a bit deeper and more masculine. Also sounds breathy when there is no need for it. Listened to books out of order and wish I had not; like that each book builds and adds to the allure of the story thus listening to books in order makes sense.

Love it

Love the story and love the narrator. Super fast listen. Vivienne Leheny does an awesome job on each of the characters voices so there was no confusing parts about who was talking.

Good but ....

BOOK REVIEW.......
The book is good but I'm just not as into this series as strongly as I am with all Ms. Hackett's other series. So far while good and interesting the characters seem to lack the depth I'm used to reading in her characters from other series.

NARRATOR REVIEW.........
Narrator did a great job with the voices again
