About this listen

Her name is Clara Rinker, a southern woman, trim, pleasant, attractive, and the best hit woman in the business. She isn't showy; she just goes quietly about her business, collects her money, and goes home.

It's when she's hired for a job in Minnesota that things become complicated for her. A defense attorney wants a rival eliminated, and that's fine. But then a witness survives, the attorney starts acting weird, this big cop Davenport gets on her case, and loose ends begin popping up faster than on an unraveling sweater.

Lucas has no idea of the toll the case is about to take on him. For of all the criminals he has hunted during his life, none has been as efficient or as ferociously intelligent as the one who is about to start hunting him, and none has known so well what his weak spots are...and how to penetrate them.

Every "Prey" a hit!

JS always entertains, this one even more that some others. The police characters seem real (I'm a retired cop). Hard to stop listening once you start.

Certain Prey

A wonderful addition to the Prey series. This was the first one I "read" and I was hooked! Richard Ferrone's reading is perfect and the story is a real grabber from the first chapter!

bad music

Story line was good. Did not like the narrator and really disliked the music between chapters.

Enjoyed, but needs work.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I recommend that the story itself is really interesting.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Being able to hear both sides was really cool.

What three words best describe Eric Conger’s performance?

Articulate, Tone, and Interesting.

Could you see Certain Prey being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Already did.

Any additional comments?

Technical quality needs improvement, and removing the book from the device, and downloading the items from the wishlist sucked.

"Certain Prey" . . . A Certain Success!

If you could sum up Certain Prey in three words, what would they be?

Exciting; Intriguing; Gripping

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Lucas Davenport always keeps me on the edge of my seat. John Sandford himself has said the things Lucas does no

Have you listened to any of Eric Conger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have. As always, Mr. Conger's presentation was stellar.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A film has been made with Mark Harmon playing the role of Lucas Davenport. I thought it was very, very good and plan to watch it again.
My tag line would be,

Any additional comments?

The book itself is a great read. The audio version brings new life to the written word, especially with the narrator, Eric Conger. I highly recommend it.

Nice surprises

I really enjoyed this book in the series, having female as the leads instead of Male. Eric Conger is my favorite narrator he gives a great performance. A++++

Another winner

This want the typical Prey gore (which I love). Very refreshing for the series...if murder can be be refreshing.

Boring narration and annoying music.

The story overall was good but this narrator is hard to listen to. It’s often hard to follow which characters are speaking as the voices he uses are too similar and he’s very monotone. Even worse was the odd music at the end of the chapters. This is a downgrade from previous prey books in my opinion.

Sandford does it again

Certain Prey continued the line of successful Prey novels by John Sanford and the reading perfformance was both interesting and easy to listen to.
