Publisher's summary

They've spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most?

Anita Martin doesn't expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider - something Abraham, one of the family's older sons, never let her forget.

Abraham Evans doesn't know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that's she's been doing it since they were teens. She is - and always has been - undeniably gorgeous. But he's never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani.

For 15 years Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: They can't stand each other - until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another's arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani's life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him.

Exhausting to listen to

The back and forth arguing over the same topic for over 50% of the book was exhausting and felt like the author ran out of narrative ideas about half way through and yet had a page quota to hit.

The narration was wonderful though, but I’d never listen to this again

A rating overall...

My Review:
Overall: 4.75
Performance: 4.75
Story: 4.5

I loved Bram and Ani so much. They are so good together. They are the couple who everyone has always known just because they've always been at one another's throats. To say they have a contentious relationship is putting it lightly. But even with all that antagonism, they've been family (fosters) so that means they always have one another's back and love. It only makes sense that when things get rough that that caring develops into something else. LOVED this story so much.

And there are a lot of tough times in this book. OMG, the tears. I adore this whole family. They are such a cohesive bunch and I love that about them, but it makes it so hard for all of them when something happens with one of them. But I love how they all come together and offer one another strength. Seriously...TEARS!!

All of that applies to Bram and Ani, too. I love how quickly they come to find one another as support and just how much that fact surprises both of them. They're so antagonistic toward one another, it's not until things get rough do they realize how much of that is a cover for pure sexual chemistry. *happy sigh* I do love it when the sexual chemistry sizzles throughout the story.

I've loved both of these audiobooks and am waiting with bated breath for the next release in the Fosters series. LOVE this family so much and highly recommend this one! It was so, so, so good!
