About this listen

Ainslie Logan has left her life as a trophy wife behind and moved her family north to escape the scandal created by her ex-husband. Lacking work experience but rich in determination, she lands a job at the local sports bar, the End Zone. Dave Mason, principal of the town’s high school, frequents the End Zone and is not a fan of the clumsy new waitress. Things suddenly change when he finds himself enamored by a woman who will stop at nothing to protect her children.

Now Dave has to use all his charms to convince Ainslie and her children happy endings do exist and that it’s safe to love again.

A solid romance read with great narration. Nice character voicing continuity from book to book within the series, which is great for a binge listener.

If you choose to read this one, there is quite the intense subplot going on in the story. Besides getting to know Ainslie Logan and her story with Dave, you get to know Ainslie’s three kids.

The main subplot focus on the two eldest kids, and it can get quite dark with actually seeing bullying, harassment, manipulation, and relationship violence to say the least. It works out for the best for those kids, but it can be a lot for some people so I’m giving a heads up here.

You do get to see past characters from her other stories in here, which is nice to see. It’s nice to see Ainslie being a part of a committee from which she liked to do in her past life and becoming an event planner.

I did enjoy the narration, although it felt at times that she was doing a very heavy southern accent at times, and made the youngest child whiny at times, but still enjoyable.
