About this listen

Chasing the Dime: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience! *

The phone messages waiting for Henry Pierce clearly aren't for him: "Where is Lilly? This is her number. It's on the site." Pierce has just moved into a new apartment, and he's been "chasing the dime" - doing all it takes so his company comes out first with a scientific breakthrough worth millions. But he can't get the messages for Lilly out of his head. As Pierce tries to help a woman he has never met, he steps into a world of escorts, websites, sex, and secret passions. A world where his success and expertise mean nothing...and where he becomes the chief suspect in a murder case, trapped in the fight of his life.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Not a Michael Connelly Fav

I’m a long time reader of Michael Connelly books but this one isn’t a favorite. Story line had a bit too many references to Internet technology which I’m not a fan of. Also I found the background music a bit much at times. The ending had a nice twist to it which was true to Connellys writing and made finishing the book worth it.

Background music

The music playing in the background is annoying. Never a break.
Story is just ok.

Gripping

Found myself talking to the character, like a scary movie “Don’t go in there” “Don’t touch that you Crazy fool” “what are you thinking” etc….
Thx for the great rush I felt in this Book….

booktrack

The booktrack was distracting and inappropriate. The narration was good, but would have been better without the soundtrack.

Another Connelley winner (but I hated the music)!

Good yarn, well-researched and like all Connelley's stories, immensely readable. I was surprised at the number of negative reviews, most focusing on the bone-headed actions of the 'hero'. It is still a Connelley and well worth the read. This reading was unique to me, with strange background music which was distracting and annoying. I hope this is not the start of a new trend.

Technological

Wayyyy too tech-y for me. Long, overly explained technical information. In many instances I felt like I was reading an annual report. Not enough plot for me.

A Different Michael Connolly

I enjoyed the story and performance, but am not a fan of the "Booktrack Edition". It was not real prevalent but was annoying at times. The story had enough twists and turns to keep me interested and this is a new character, different enough circumstances and interesting story. CHASING THE DIME will likely find its place in my rotation for another listen or more.

constant background noise was irritating

I did not care for the constant background off tune notes, sounds and noises. Reader's voice was good.

A must listen.

This book was excellent. The story was captivating and the performance was excellent also. Maybe the best audio book to which I have listened.

Disruptive and annoying “music” throughout. At its best, it sounds like funeral home music.

Don’t use this hokey music for other books. It is worse than unpleasant. I can’t believe you bragged about it in your promotion.
