Publisher's summary

When her father disappears in war-torn Mississippi, Hannah Dandridge finds herself responsible not only for her younger siblings but also for the Texas ranch her father recently acquired. A marriage of convenience could ease her predicament.... but is it the true desire of her heart? Wounded soldier William Barnett returns home only to find out that his family’s ranch has been seized. Though angered at this turn of events, he’s surprised to discover that it is a beautiful young woman with amazing fortitude who is struggling to keep the place running.

Despite these circumstances, Hannah and William form an uneasy truce... and an undeniable attraction builds between them. In a land where loyalties are divided in a country ravaged by war, is there any hope that the first blush of love can survive?

Texas during the Civil War

My first book about Texas and the Civil War . . . and this is a great one . . . Hannah and her young brother and sister are living on a ranch that has been seized by the government from its owner, William Barnett, because he and his family sided and fought for the union . . . Texas . . . interestingly enough, succeeded from the union in 1861 and replaced Governor Sam Houston, when he would not take an oath of allegiance to the Confederate States. Most Texans' sympathies lied with the south, with some joining the fighting and many being instrumental in smuggling horses and supplies to the confederate troops. In the book, and in the Civil War, the Comanche Indians were ran rough shod by the troops. . . a nuance of the war that I hadn't contemplated before . . . the portrayal of the young Indian boy, injured near the ranch, was one of the most illuminating and interesting parts of the book for me . . . and Hannah's brave move to meet the boy's father when he came for his son . . . this story will stretch your heart and your faith in mankind . . . and remind you that evil exists . . . with childlike faith, Hannah met each obstacle with prayer . . . trusting God to deliver . . . whether it was Mexican servants, Comanche Indians, confederate troops, mean spirited merchants, or one particular union soldier, Hannah found mercy and love to spare . . . and when she got pushed into a corner by the devil's henchman, well, she spit fire . . . and called on Her Deliverer . . . Chasing the Sun is a great listen, full of grace, forgiveness, strength . . . and spunk!

Narrator Horrible

The narrator was horrible and detracted from the story. Need to be better and fast but story is good really.

loved this book and the audible performance!

Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite authors. She never disappoints! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. All kinds interesting personal development of each character...culminating into a wonderful story of "life", involving each one's interactions with each other.

Touching, Uplifting and Inspiring

This is a moving story by Tracie Peterson, an author who manages to tackle issues of faith and trust in God without sugar sweet or corniness. Her characters are both relate-able and flawed. Additionally, I enjoyed the historical setting of the both the Civil War and the our country's difficult times with American Indians.
