Layla Hagen
Reese Maxwell meets her happy-ever-after in Layla Hagen's latest. What starts as a pretend romance soon turns into so much more...Newly divorced Dominic Waldorf is the most coveted bachelor in Chicago. At least, that’s what he thinks. I’d describe him as more of a Neanderthal with a really nice backside.
When I accidentally spill champagne on him at a charity event, he accuses me of hitting on him. Then later, I run into him in an empty coat room, and he’s convinced.
The truth is even more embarrassing.
I’m hiding from my ex-fiancé, who showed up with his new wife—my former best friend. I try to hold it together, but instead spill my guts to this handsome stranger.
Dom surprises me by suggesting an agreement: we pretend to date. I get to rub it in my ex’s face and he appears off the ‘market’. You scratch my back—I scratch yours, that sort of thing.
Dom is an excellent fake boyfriend. He’s protective and caring, and even gives me a smoking hot kiss.
Then things get complicated. The charity has another event for us to attend —out of town, and overnight.
Between late night confessions and three more smoking hot kisses—not that I’m counting—I start wondering if he’s really faking everything.
I’m certainly way past pretending.
Soon after, Dom admits that he wants to date me… me, Reese Maxwell, for real!
But my heart isn’t allowed to make any decisions anymore.
Except — maybe — this one last time…

Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwwood did a fantastic job bringing the characters and their story to life. They were spot on with emotions and the banter which made for an entertaining listen.
It was always going to be a special man that won Reese’s heart and I fell hard and fast for Dominic (Dom) Waldorf. A chance meeting soon turns into so much more when he offers to fake date her so she can save face with her jerk of an ex who recently married her ex best friend……..
Ms Hagen gives us families who feel like friends and who take over our hearts and this book is a perfect addition to this wonderful series. It’s well written with characters you can’t help bonding with. From the moment I picked this book up I was taken into my favourite world and I loved everything about this captivating journey. I smiled and I swooned as I joined Reese and Dom on their entertaining journey and I guess all I need to say is I urge you all to one click this gem of a read.
Everything I expected and more

I had already read this story and I loved all the Maxwell's stories, but Reese and Dom's was particularly sweet. Listening to it was more emotional than when I read it. The narrators made a superb job. Reese and Dom's story is not easy as she has to deal with her past and insecurities caused by it. But when she meets Dom and their relationship evolves without them noticing, that is when they head to their well deserved HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ALC of this book.
An unforgettable book

This was a well written story with characters and a story line that held me captive from the first to the last chapter.
We have met Reese, a cousin of the Maxwell brothers in previous books and I knew that the man who captured her heart would be special.
I love stories where the relationship starts out as pretend and quickly morphs into more.
Dominic (Dom) Waldorf is recently divorced and has tickets on himself. From the moment they met the sparks flew, Dom convinced that Reese is hitting on him but that could not be further than the truth. She is trying to avoid her ex fiancé who is a jerk who recently married her ex best friend.
Dom surprised Reese by volunteering g to pretend to date her and this starts a chain of events that quickly snowballs.
Jacob Morgan and Savannah Peachwwood did a wonderful job with the narrating. Not only are their voices easy to listen to but they brought all the passion, love and drama to life for me. They did justice to the story that Ms. Hagen wove. Watching these two move from acquaintances to lovers was an entertaining journey that had me smiling and shaking my head; it was fun watching their relationship play out.
A wonderful addition to one of my favourite series.

It has been entirely too long since I've listened or read Layla Hagen!
Throw in some wonderful narrators like Savannah Peachwood and Jacob Morgan and I couldn't wait to dive in!
Now I need to go back and listen to all the Maxwell Brothers and let's face it, any and all of her books I haven't already listened to!!
Loved Reese and Dom for eachother. They played off one another perfectly and they got their HEA after both getting screwed over by their last relationship!
easy listen and a great HEA!
