About this listen

In this small-town romance sure to capture the hearts of Jill Shalvis and Debbie Macomber fans, a surprise baby will convince a big-city career woman to take a chance at finding happiness on the coastal island of Cavanaugh Island.

A place to call home . . .

In New York City, attorney Devon Gilmore devoted all her time and energy to fast-track her career. She lost her boyfriend . . . but found herself with a surprise baby on the way. To begin a new life, Devon needs a place to settle down—a place like Cavanaugh Island, where the pace is slow, the weather is fine, and the men are even finer.

From the moment David Sullivan meets Devon, he knows he can't fight the laws of attraction. Whether it's helping fix up the old cottage she just bought on Cherry Lane or working together on a pro bono legal case, he can't help feeling a little protective. But will the most eligible bachelor in town be ready for an instant family? Only if he can convince Devon to put her heart on the line one more time—for all time.

Warmth and Kindness

Excellent story. Rochelle Alers' characters are well defined and truly refined ... a great read. I love the warmth and kindness of these characters. In addition to telling a great story, the narrator did a pretty good job varying voices for the many characters. My only frustration with the performance was the distracting mispronunciation of so many words. Example: slivered almonds as "silver almonds", orthodontics became "orthopedics" I became so distracted, I began to make a list, adding to the distraction. The producer should do a better job of catching these mistakes.

Outstanding!

A wonderful story of good overcoming evil. Kindness and love overcoming greed. Good from start to finish.

Great story

Devon found out she was pregnant. Then she found out her boyfriend was actually engaged to another woman. Then she met David. They hit it off instantly. He stepped right in to be a man she could rely on.
I enjoyed this story a lot. The whole series was wonderful.

Excellent love story!

I loved reading Devon and David’s love story in print, but awesome to listen to it on audio. I’ve been waiting for this. Thank you Ms. Rochelle Alers.

Black Love

Exceptional. The story is well written. It builds upon respectable black men as well cherishing black women sisterhood! The narrator pulled me in time and time again. It’s difficult to define so many characters; however, her modulation allowed me to define and engage with each character! I’m disappointed this is the last of the series! Moving on to your books . . .

Ok Story POOR Narration

I liked the story itself, but the reader did not do a very good job. This is #5 in a series and her errors were glaring. She pronounced the island as CA-VA-NOFF, instead of CA-VA-NAW, multiple times. She was fine when she just read the words, and her voices for Devon and David were ok but when she did "voices" for the other characters she was terrible. We already know the stories of the other men, women characters (all positive, smart and strong), but this reader made the women sound like mindless nitwits with fake northern accents, and make the male characters sound like bumpkins.
