About this listen

For nearly 30 years, since the collapse of society, Freedom Ranch has been self-sufficient, hidden deep in the Rocky Mountains. Amy Beland has grown up hating the small valley settlement and the survivalists that run it. Now it will be up to her to save them all.

Journeying out of the mountains and into what is left of civilization, they discover that much of what they've been taught about the collapse is wrong. They don't find the enemy they expect on the plains beneath their home, which is good because Amy suspects they may have brought a couple with them.

Any additional comments?

I do not often write reviews but found myself compelled to comment on this one.

The storyline was somewhat interesting but the narrator spoiled it for me. Lynnae Stanwick barely pronounced some of the words and many were mispronounced. Was she listening in English classes? I could also hear her hesitate with some words she obviously did not recognize and parsed them syllable-by-syllable. She sounds young but perhaps she needs more skills to be narrating just yet. Perhaps reading more might build her vocabulary.

Poor narration spoiled the story for me

The story telling and story readying in this book is not very well put together. Each person introduced with the book comes with a description of what they look like. It feels like the author is following a "how to write a novel" guide a little too closely.

This narrator needs some more practice. At several points she clears her threat in the middle of a sentence. It sounds like your sister reading to you, nit a profesional product you payed for.

Amateur hour on the narration and the book
