About this listen

Heavy caliber cannon fire rips across the harbor of a remote South Atlantic research station.

Worse is to come. When Argentinian forces launch a lightning strike against the Antarctic peninsular, only a single US Navy destroyer stands between them and the country's ambition to seize the continent's rich resources for herself.

The USS Cunningham is sailing into hostile waters, untested, unsupported and far from home. But as the enemy will soon discover, the Cunningham is no ordinary warship, nor her Commander any ordinary Captain...

Critic reviews

"First-rate military suspense". (Kirkus Reviews)

"As lively as Dale Brown, leaner than Clancy, Cobb is a military buff par excellence...packs plenty of hard-charging Neputunian spirit". (Publishers Weekly)

I've loved these books since I read them when they first came out. The narrator was a good choice. Her voice is pleasant, and she manages to distinguish the many characters without using heavy-handed (or fake) accents.
Thank you for the audiobook and ebook versions! My paperbacks were getting worn out.

This is a great series!

YYYEEEEEAAAHHHOOOO!!!! I have been looking for these books in audiobook format for YEARS!!! I am THRILLED to see "The Lady" is on the air at last, her and her "hypertech tin can".
Captain Garrett has been one of my all-time favorite characters for a LONG time, Her quiet but firm, caring but solidly in authority command style is something every commander should emulate, but few do.
Her calm and reasoned approach to lethal force is always a pleasure... one of the key elements of this book I have remembered for all these years was early in this story, during the second harassment from the Argys. The Super-RBOC FOD she threw up in the face of those fighters was hilarious, and a perfect start to the battle for Antarctica.
just as I have read the paperbacks repeatedly, so to will I enjoy this audiobook version. I see a family drive in the near future... and an audiobook the whole family will enjoy!

As my daughter said it... GIRL POWER!!!

I loved this when the book came out in the late 1990's and was thrilled to find it on audibles.

I read it long ago because it was a story about a female captain of a battleship, but I think this story would appeal to men as well as women.

In the story The Cunningham is USN's first stealth battleship. It is the only USN ship in the souther hemisphere when a blockade is needed in the Arctic Ocean.

Good story!
