About this listen

As Russian troops pour into northern Poland, an elite Platoon of American scouts in Stryker reconnaissance vehicles faces a dangerous assignment: they must clear the route ahead for a US Cavalry column preparing to counter attack the flank of the enemy spearhead before it reaches Warsaw.

But the scouts' difficult mission is made even more complicated when a Company of Polish militia are added to the counter attacking force, and a vital bridge is found to be defended by the enemy. Faced with an impossible battle to win the bridge, and the challenge of unreliable Polish allies, the Cavalry scouts must find a way to fight through a dug-in Russian force that is determined to hold the vital crossing at all costs.

"Nick Ryan knows his craft, and his topic. His World War III stories are tightly written, fast-moving, with great characters." - Larry Bond, co-author of Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising and New York Times bestselling author of Red Phoenix

Published in 2021 and it didn’t age well.

The story seems to be based on a poor understanding of the balance of power between NATO and the now discredited ascendancy of Russia’s military hardware and military personnel. The lack of currently used technologies and tactics is incredible. The narration is good but the story is thin.

It was enjoyable

If you’re looking for a quick enjoyable war novel then give it a try. It’s great for a day trip listen. Don’t get caught up on technical data just enjoy a great story about the American fighting spirit.

No real story here…

The author spent way too much time on the wrong details. None of which helped the plot. If I have to keep trying to imagine the field of battle to keep up with the action then you’ve lost me.

Lots of Action, Narrated VERY Well!

Love these kind of books! Lots of military details and action. Like the action of Red Storm Rising and the Leonard B Scott Vietnam books. Great books! Highly recommend. Marc Vietor is by far my favorite narrator!!

my expectations were a bridge too far.

As a former 19D cavalry scout and combat veteran I know I have high expectations compared to the average person, the details were prety good, the tactics are 40 years old, a post 9/11 iraq and Afghanistan army has changed alot since the cold war, the capabilities of scouts has increased, where were the night vision devices the thermal optics the short range drones? these are all things that would have been used by the scouts before the opening battle, where was the cavalry squadrons artillery? like I said maybe my expectations were too high, I was really hoping for a new Herold Coyle.

Author is ripping people off

the fact that these books in this series are less than 5 hours long with 40 min of the next book is absurd. The author only cares about getting rich. 4 book series is barely 2 books from other authors.
