Publisher's summary

Leander, Lord Charrington has a problem. Raised to be a charming diplomat, women fall in love with him.

He, however, seeks a marriage of convenience with a sensible woman with whom he can live on honest terms.

The impoverished widow, Judith Rossiter, Angel Bride of poet Sebastian Rossiter, seems ideal. Still dressing in black, she remains devoted to her dead husband, and she has children to provide for.

Judith Rossiter thanks heaven for the earl's offered escape from disaster. Though her story is not what the earl believes, the terms of his agreement—to not fall in love with him—seem simple enough. Or so she believes on her wedding day . . .

Contains mature themes.

A fun listen

Christmas Angel was a fun listen! I thoroughly enjoyed the story of an older-(ish) widow with children—a nice change from the usual virginal teenage maiden.

Making a family

Both Leander and Judith are looking for true partnership. Their experiences and their responses are thoughtful and “modern” which is engaging if ahistorical.
The performance is excellent: male and female adults and children- remarkable.

Family relationships

A lovely story along the lines of Cinderella, but instead of a stepmother and step sisters there is a first husband and his brother. The 'prince' is burdened by his own disfunctional family.

Great narrator.

Why do so many authors create the women to be so unlikable. Judith was petty, and miserably unlikable most of the time. Leander was such a good, honest and sweet man. Not sure in real life a man would put up with a woman like this.. unless she’s stunningly beautiful. Of the series this is my least favorite so far.

Fun story.

I totally disliked the cadence of the narration. It was so jarring that I almost couldn’t listen to the book. I will never purchase another book by this narrator.
