About this listen

A journey of 38,000 miles begins with a single twist of the throttle.

After six years of laying rubber on racetracks and immersing herself in the high octane, adrenaline pumping sport of motorcycle racing, Tiffani was yearning for something new from her life on two wheels.

Fortunately (or unfortunately), losing her comfortable office job was the perfect opportunity to do exactly that.

Twenty-eight years old, single, unattached, and now unemployed, she took her 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 and built the nimble sport bike into a make-shift adventure motorcycle. She packed it full of camping gear and set off on an adventure that she had always dreamed about.

The problem? Tiffani had scarcely traveled outside her long-time home in Los Angeles, let alone with nothing but a tent and hope to keep her safe.

Chronicles of a Motorcycle Gypsy is an inspiring tale of confronting fears, insecurities, and self- doubts for the sake of following your heart, all while discovering the many wonders of the 49 continental United States.

Tiffani encounters some of the best and worst of humanity, meets a friend who eventually makes her journey a little less lonely, and puts all of her riding skills to the test, struggling with everything from her first time riding a sport bike in deep sand to getting caught in a blizzard in the Colorado mountains. It's a big world outside the racetrack!

Originally published as a travelogue in Motorcyclist Magazine as Girl Meets World, this full-length memoir contains the untold stories and the details that were a little too racy for the blog.

great book

loved the book, very honest and funny. I loved the author's sense of humor, sarcasm, and her deadpan delivery. finished it in one day and immediately bought the sequel.

Good story

I enjoyed the story, as a motorcyclist interested in some long trips.
Good adventure. Fair but not great recording quality.

honesty

she sounded a lot like my sister who is a very liberal person and I have a very strong dislike for that I am just indicating that her voice sounded like her Not Tiffany's

Raw, honest and engaging!

I'm a fan of Jack Kerouac and his raw assessment of his travels.
I'm now also a fan of Tiffani Burkett, a fellow rider who shares some of Jack's raw style while being far easier to relate to. I'm in the planning phase of a Florida to Alaska adventure, and Tiffani has inspired me to shift gears and pursue my own story.

good honest raw story, rushed reading

i really enjoyed hearing the raw personal story of the author and it's almost always best when the author reads. that is true here as well, though ms. Burkett seems to read in a very rushed mode. this is unlike her normal speaking style which is casual/chill but not slurred and rushed.

overall, i enjoyed it and will probably pick up the sequel one of these days.

if ms. Burkett reads this, cheers to you for all your adventures and bringing us along.

I wanna go.

Even in the short time before I realized the narrator and author are one and the same I chucked as I noticed; There's a subtle little speech thing there that I would typically find only distracting, but in her case it was somehow cute. I frequently (more often than not) wanted more details, but then it was a great distance covered in a short time. No, that doesn't work; more detail please. You leave us (those like me of course) wanting to get more of the experience of your adventure. Now that I have commitments (note: not that I regret them) I can no longer jump on my bike for quite such adventure.
Please, please keep going. I'll be looking forward to compilation book II as certain questions need answers ;)

Motorcycle adventure travel from the heart

This is a delightful story about setting a goal and then setting out fearlessly to achieve it. Tiffani’s descriptions of people, places, weather, fears, relationships, roads, and culture are engaging. I’m looking forward to the movie :)
