About this listen

“Well, now I’m committed,” he thought to himself after telling a national TV game show audience that he wanted to ride a motorcycle to Mongolia with his winnings. He felt the fear that commitment always induced in him; he was hoping they might have edited that bit out. Commitments are something he tried to get as far away from as possible, the only other constants in his life being twenty-five years of financial prudence, travel and motorcycle obsession. So there he was, committed to going very, very far on a motorcycle with his meager prize money. Consequently, he spent a winter on eBay and a spring in the garage preparing his $1000 KLR 650 for an uncertain life on the road. Armed with a cynical humor, a strong sense of direction, a vague sense of balance, and no sense of proportion, he embarked on a 15,000-mile solo motorcycle ride to see what would break first; bike, body, or budget. Leaving an indifferent existence in England behind he headed east, looking for purpose, a new life, and a new location to live it. He was in search of greener grass.

Very much enjoyed this book.

I'm a fan of the Sam Manicom motorcycle travel books and feel like this is a similar type of book. The descriptions paint a vivid picture of what it was really like to travel by motorcycle. I like that the book is read by the author. The accent is occasionally challenging for my American ears but I was able to understand everything...I think.

This will likely be one of the few books that I listen to a 2nd or 3rd time....as I have also done with the Manicom books.

Here's a vote for more motorcycle travel books coming to Audible.

Love the story, not the narration !

Have read so many great reviews of the book could not wait to read it ! Found it on Audible and added to the narration to my kindle purchase. Graham does not sound like a happy person as he narrates his book. It is a little irritating. Listened to bits and pieces of different sections and it all seems to be read the same.

Witty, Sarcastic, idiotic

Graham Field does a great job giving voice to his book, In Search of Green Grass. My only complaint is I enjoyed it too quickly.

Pure Genius

Thank you Graham!
Before I listened to this book, I thought you were a motorcyclist who wrote books. But, I discovered you’re really a writer who rides motorcycles. Loved this book and your reading was priceless.

Loved this adventure

My favorite audio books are the ones that the author narrates their own book. This would be one of those. Graham has the ability to make you feel as though you are experiencing everything with him. His excitement, his trepidation, his frustration and his absolute joy come through in his voice.

The question one would have to ask themselves here is which part was the adventure? Meeting the people, the traveling, the roads, cities and towns, the bike..... In this case... All of it. Graham delivers a wonderful narration that carry's you every step of the way through the sand, the mud, the rain, the dirt, the beautiful tarmac, the amazing people, the frustrating people (NYET!!) and the beautiful people. He makes you feel his joy and his frustration. Simply Marvelous!

I defy you to get this book and NOT like it. Thank you Graham for sharing your adventure.

Great Book

I found this book to be very honest. I am glad to know that I am not the only person to experience the ups and especially downs on motorcycle trips. It is not always roses and rainbows. If you love travelling by motorcycle, this is a must read.

One if the best reads for motorcycle adventurers!

Definitely one if the best reads I have come across. I can’t get enough of these types of books and now that Graham’s book is on audible all the better. I was even listening to this while I was working on my own bike getting ready for my next trip. The honesty, candor and unabashed descriptions of ups as well as downs makes this relatable, a ton of fun to “read”, and very different than most books out there. Can’t wait for the next installment in audio format!

And Graham, I listen to you on ARR and ARRRaw so maybe that’s the trick, but I wouldn’t have wanted to listen to anyone else read this. Good on ya. Awesome book!!
