About this listen

Fallon Foster is Whiskey Springs’ self-proclaimed token lesbian. She isn’t a token any longer. After her year-long affair with best friend Andi Maguire ends, Fallon hopes to earn the trust and win the heart of the town’s newest resident, Riley Main.

Ghosts from the past still haunt Fallon and Riley. Informed by loss and betrayal, the pair endeavors to find their way to each other. Along the way, their growing affection and burgeoning relationship will change the lives and the paths of more people than Riley and Fallon could imagine.

As Fallon and Riley begin to discover life together, Andi must learn how to live alone. A trip back to her former home in San Diego for Riley, family upheaval for Andi, and a visit from an old flame for Fallon will put their hearts and their relationships to the test.

Against the backdrop of a small Vermont town, three women will learn that love always requires a little bit of letting go. Rich with a colorful cast of characters, Whiskey Springs is a place where even if everybody doesn’t know your name, somebody knows your business.

Enjoy a pint at Murphy’s Law with Fallon, Riley, Andi, Ida, Carol and their colorful friends, and discover that life is all about finding a place to call home.

Cigar Club is the second installment in the Open Tab series by best-selling author JA Armstrong.

Complex relationships

Well done! I appreciated how raising kids and changing relationships were part of the story. Excellent narration.

Whew! Is it hot in here??

Jill Smith and JA Armstrong have brought to life yet another book that will leave you desperately needing a large cold drink or long cold shower! Maybe even both!! Jill's voice will make you melt, and that same voice will make you want to throttle a character at two. JA Armstrong created the amazing story, and she had the incredible wisdom to have Jill Smith bring it to life in our ears. Congratulations, ladies, on another fantastic creation!!

One of the best narrative series ever!!!

ok so book 1 ends on a cliffhanger. yes i was shocked as well. However book 2 brings a lot more attention to the meaning of loyalty, family, and true love. ( still leaves you wanting more)
i have to say for an Armstrong book i found it to be a bit short, comparing to her other novels, but this is where i hope there will be many more visits to Whiskeys Springs.
I was hooked from the very first chapter of the series. I finished them rather fast. so i know i will be visiting them soon.
the characters were loving and so easy to like. the stoy pulled you in and kept the drinks coming so you felt right at home.
This book along with the first one On Tap.. was two of the best Armstrong has written to date.. I truly can not say enough good thgs about the series, so let me say this. The narration was out of this world good. knowing this I'm wondering why you haven't bought your copies yet. you won't regret it!!!

Pleasing

love a well written story that holds my attention. What can I say without giving to much away. Love on various levels and change is hard but often necessary. My favorite part of the story, Riley setting boundaries!! Badass!

beyond perfect

if it's even possible this second installment of the Whiskey Springs novels was even better than the first. The narration was in a word....perfect. The characters spring to life once again and you are easily immersed in their world. I love these books and cannot wait for the third to hit the audible website. Well done Jill and Nancy , another home run.

Love this series

I really, really enjoy this series and Jill’s performance of it. This second installment is my favorite of the three published books. The characters are well established by this point, and the relationships have settled into a very nice balance. I love witnessing Riley and Fallon’s development as a couple. Andi’s growth, while hard at times, feels necessary and organic. Added to the character development, some hidden truths that begin to emerge in this installment make for some particularly enthralling moments. Very enjoyable series.

Where do I start?

The first 40 minutes of this listen were the last 40 minutes of the previous book. That’s not good writing. If you need some kind of recap to bring new readers into your story in progress, write one! I don’t know if poor Jill Smith had to read it again or if they literally did a cut and paste edit onto this new recording.

Finally, the new story began, picking up where the previous book left off. We were back to the quality writing I expected from this author.

At some point in the middle, the story began to drag. It didn’t seem to know where it was going.

Before the end it had found its way again. Hallelujah!

Honestly, I think this book and the first, minus the meandering middle part previously mentioned, should have been one book. The first literally just stopped. No ending at all. Like the tape ran out. Or the timer went off. This one had an ending. There is room for a sequel, but there doesn’t have to be one. Like an actual novel some professional publishing house might sign! Gasp! This era of self-publication allows a lot more stories to get out there, but the quality is all over the map, and there is no way for us, the consumer, to know what we’re getting. J. A. Armstrong (Nancy Ann Healy) is a good writer. I love her characters, her dialogue, the worlds she builds, the emotions she evokes, but she could use an editor. This would have been a better story after a good trimming of the fat.

Having said all that, I still will be grabbing the third installment to see what happens next in the lives of the women of Whisky Springs.

Jill Smith is fantastic! Before these books, I had not had the privilege of listening to her narration. She is now one of my favorites. I’ll be on the lookout for more from her.
