About this listen

Stone Barrington takes down old and new enemies in the latest thriller from perennial fan favorite Stuart Woods.

After a rocky jaunt in Maine, Stone Barrington is settling back in New York City when an old client reaches out for help with a delicate matter. A feud they thought was put to rest long ago has reemerged with a vengeance, and reputations - and money - are now on the line.

As Stone sets out to unravel a tangled web of crime and secrets, his mission becomes even more complicated when he makes an irresistible new acquaintance. In both the underbelly and upper echelons of New York, everyone has something to hide - and if Stone has learned anything, it’s that history has a way of repeating itself....

Great

Another best seller for Stuart Woods. It is easy to get into especially if you are familiar with Stone Barrington.

Not a fan of this one.

Just not as interesting as most of his books I’ve listen to. I’ll keep trying more.

Could have been better.

Didn't really like it much, Woods kills off females in just about all his stories. Hilda could have ridden of into the sunset 🌇

I was very displeased

Didn’t like Stone getting his Hanna’s that messy. It made the story appear common and dull.

Great story

As usual a really great story. Held me to the end. A little different twist to what Stone Barrington usually does.

Last Few Chapters Rewarding

Overall, there was too much repetition with restaurant and bar scenes interspersed about every other chapter to keep the plot f!owing. This became tedious and unimaginative to me. I'm a fan of books with more action and ongoing plot twists. Stone Barrington has become little more than an exceedingly rich womanizer. That foundation has definitely lost its appeal. Woods does write beautifully and I have loved a number of his books. i do wish the author would create a new main character than wasn't based on 1960 ideals!

Class Act review

This had a bit too much killing and with more gory details than most Stone Barrington novels. I put it at the low end of Stuart Woods SB novels I also wonder how Stone can continue being a “yellow dog democrat” based on the performance of our current senile Pres Biden and his handlers. The corruption and lies and mistakes in governance should be abhorrent to any rational citizen. Don Pearce

Excellent book

As always a fantastic book. The evolution of the Stone Barrington character never ceases to amaze me.

Couldn’t be more meaningless

The plot was nonexistent. The character development fizzled. This wasted 6 hours was just a quick contract fulfillment to keep the money flowing. Stuart, put the work into being a writer. You used to have it, and we miss it.

In all honesty this book began nowhere, went absolutely nowhere, and ended nowhere. I kept waiting for the real narrative to develop. We all are more stupid for having participated in this audiobook.

Ca—Ching!
