Story
On December 31, 1981, high atop a snowy mountain peak in the rugged interior of British Columbia, Canada, 98 beautiful people eat, drink, laugh, and dance inside the opulent grand ballroom of the Sinclair Resort Hotel. The clock strikes 12, a cheer goes up, and the music swells; balloons drop and streamers swirl. Then blackness. Fifteen seconds later, the power returns and every living soul inside the ballroom has vanished. Forty years later, preternatural investigator Lively Deadmarsh and his psychic twin sister have been brought in to solve this decades-old mystery once and for all.

Story
100,000 years ago the object hit the lake at the deepest point, quickly sinking into its mile-deep Stygian darkness. The sheets of ice closed, time moved on and the land forgot. But over the centuries, legends grew of people vanishing, of strange, deformed animals and of an unexplained luminescence down in the lake depths. When Marcus Stenson won the lucrative contract to create a sturgeon fish farm on the site of disused paper mill on the shore of Lake Baikal, he thought he had won the lottery and refused to listen to the chilling folktales....

Dr. Hugh Meyer believed he had created the ultimate miracle. Using the DNA of ancient creatures preserved in the Arctic, he had genetically engineered one of the most remarkable species of sea creature to ever exist: the Serpent Eel. Believed to possess the cure for countless diseases, the creature holds great promise for the medical community. All goes awry when the beast escapes containment. With a rapid growth rate and remarkable physical evolution, the beast travels to the coastal town of Spiral Bay. There, the creature designed to save human life instead starts taking it.

Story
A series of violent shark attacks off the shores of northern California draw the attention of pessimistic Detective Luke Jansen. Despite reports of shark sightings, the injuries are more reminiscent of a chainsaw-wielding maniac. Things get stranger when marine biologist Elise Sheldon encounters the creature. Exhausted and traumatized, her claims that the beast is a Helicoprion are dismissed. With little help from the police department, Luke and Elise form an unlikely alliance that puts them face-to-face with a violent man-eating shark, and its terrifying reason for existing.

On a desolate beach in far northern Scotland, the winter storms have been washing up all manner of things since time began. But buried in the centre of one smaller iceberg is a shard of ancient Viking pottery telling a partial tale of a hidden mysterious island beyond the ice and mist, that was home to a great treasure and even greater horrors. Thawing in the same block of ice was a rotting flap of skin that refused to be identified but had similar skin patterns to a creature not seen for 100 million years.

Love the story BUT!!!
DO NOT BUY THIS AND THE OTHER NOVELETTE!!! Just get the two books that are 8 hours long or so reading time. The Caleb and Kitty stories are retold exactly the same in the third book which is annoying because I wasted my money on something that should have been free or at least different…. Other than that they are good but short cliffhanger books.

A must read! A great novella to the Claw series!
Loved this Novella to the Claw series! Genius and very creative writing on giving prequel insight to decades before the Claw series. It left me with so much inquisitiveness about what will happen after the Novellas between then and the beginning of Claw. I very much liked the characters, their introduction and backgrounds; not too much, but just enough to feel relatable and empathetic to. The Caleb Cantrell Novella crossover into Kitty Welch was genius! Etremely well written, great story line, characters, plot, etc. Absolutely couldn't put them down! I loved them. I definitely reccomend reading the two Claw Emergence Novellas: Caleb Cantrell first, then Kitty Welch, before the Claw series. It gives an intriguing, anticipating introduction and insight for the Claw and Claw Emergence
If you haven't read Claw Emergence: Caleb Cantrell, Claw Emergence: Kitty Welch, and Claw: A Canadian Thriller; I highly recommend you do. They are fantastic!
Also, waiting with excitement and anticipation for Claw series book 2, Claw Emergence!
In my opinion, the Claw Emergence Novellas and the Claw series would make and awesome and fantastic Netflix Series!! Here's hoping Netflix does!

Fun novelette
The writing was really good in this book. It is set up concisely and moves right into the plot in a very natural way. The characters are interesting and it holds the beginnings of an interesting world. Great narration. It definitely helped me enjoy the book even more.

One of my favorite authors
The book is a quick little continuation of “The Claw”. Throughout the audible book I was biting my nails with anticipation. I love how quick paced and action packed the book was! I definitely recommend reading it! Only complaint is I wish it was longer lol!

Caleb Cantrell Novella
I enjoyed the novella although a little predictable. It kept me riveted to hear what he encountered next. I enjoyed the discovery process of the caverns and creature inspite of how creeped out they made me.

Read “Novella”
When you choose to spend a whole credit on novella, remember, it is a novella
, and there is no one to blame but yourself when you are fuming at having it over in a little over an hour.
That being said, the narration is significantly better than the first book, although “Claw” is the best of all.

I have gotten into historical fiction and much of that is Western. This was a very interesting plot, so where is the rest of it?
