About this listen

Wood Point Academy is not at all what I expected.

For one thing, it looks like a cross between military school and Buckingham Palace. Everyone stares, the floors shine so bright you can see your reflection in them from a mile away, and no one smiles. Unless they're kicking your butt in the process.

At least I've got plenty to take my mind off the fact that my psycho cousin, Miles De'Luca, keeps calling and declaring his love and promising to come for me just as soon as he's destroyed anyone standing in our way. Wes isn't going to like that idea.

Between Miles, Wood Point's evil welcoming committee, and the drill sergeant hottie trainer from hell, I just keep asking myself, how is this place any safer than home?

Cold Blood is Book 2 in the best-selling Dirty Blood series.

Brilliant!!

Tara has been excepted to the prestigious hunter's Wood Point Academy! She should be thrilled as it's the best hunters school, but she is miles from home, miles from Wes and her crazy cousin, Miles De'Luca, is constantly ringing her and freaking her out by promising that she will be his! Plus Tara isn't exactly welcomed in the ranks of the hunters due to her "dirty" blood! There are some bright sides though, Cambria and Logan who quickly bring Tara into their fold, and Alex, her trainer! Can Tara survive in the hunter infested waters and stay sane??

Here's me thinking that Dirty Blood was amazing, and it is, but this one was so much better!!! More action, more friends for Tara, an amazing setting and a completely crazy bad dude! The only down side is there isn't much Wes. But... there is Alex. The hawwwwt trainer who has to bring Tara up to an acceptable level, since she can't run a mile without being winded. Alex hit's Tara up the wrong way at the start by saying something about her dirty blood, but their friendship soon blossoms.

I absolutely love how this author writes incredible characters! Ones you can't help but fall in love with. Cambria and Logan were awesome!!!! I want them as BFFs ;) They really help Tara cope with the nasty comments made about her and are there for her no matter what. Alex is another character I enjoyed. He is the brooding type, the one where you know more is to come. Tara is as kick ass and sassy as always and is one of my favourite characters ever!!

In all, this is an incredible addition to the series and sees the characters grow a lot. It's an action packed, edge of your seat book that will leave you wanting more. I loved this series when I first read them and I love them even more after listening to the audios!! Highly recommend.

Kelly Pruner is amazing as Tara!!! She really knows her character and brings her to life. She has a great range of tones as well for the rest of the characters and gave her all to the story. Brilliant performance!!

Tara goes off to Hunter school

After the events in book 1, Tara is no longer able to live the normal life of the times when she didn’t know about werewolves and hunters or her connection to them. So now she has to learn to defend herself and is therefor send to the best school for hunters. A long way from home —and sadly, also a long way from Wes, she struggles to fit in, not only as a newcomer but as a dirty blood on top of that. But she is here to stay so she struggles some more to learn what she can, make it through the day without too much trouble and hoping her cousin Miles won’t get to her because what he has in mind... the fact that he wants his own cousin as his mate says it all really, he’s just totally nuts. But annoyingly he’s the clever kind of nuts that gets too close for comfort.
I liked some parts of the story but others, I felt like it could’ve been better so sadly I couldn’t enjoy this one as much as I would have liked. I just didn’t connect to the story so much that it kept me captivating from start to finish. The writing style is pleasant enough, the build up too, no plot holes I can remember so this is not a book I dislike or won’t recommend. I truly believe it’s a good read. I enjoyed it. I’m somewhat curious which way the story will develop but right now this has been enough for me. But if you like the Werewolves and Hunters, chances are you’re going to love this series. I love how the origin of both Werewolves and Hunters came to be.

Awesome series!

I enjoyed the first book in the Dirty Blood Series but this second book is even better. Tara starts Hunter school at Wood Point Academy. The students are not very welcoming but she manages to make some good friends.

Narration is excellent and brings the story to life.

The author did an amazing job with the secondary characters. Logan and Cambria are so amazingly supportive. And Miles, her psycho cousin, is as crazy as they come. He declares his love for her and keeps telling Tara he is coming to get her as soon as he is done getting everything ready.

There is plenty action to keep you in the edge of your seat, and some suspense & mystery to keep you guessing what will happen next. Unfortunately, we don't see much of Wes, but we do see plenty of Alex, her attractive trainer.

It wraps up in a bit of a cliffhanger and I’m looking forward to finding out what will happen next.

So many things to feel!

If you could sum up Cold Blood in three words, what would they be?

Best. Sequel. Ever!

What does Kelly Pruner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is the best narrator that I have had the pleasure of listening to. She knows how to capture the characters attitudes perfectly!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no

Give Me More..and ALEX!

Book 2 in Heather Hildenbrand's Dirty Blood series gives me a little more background on the major players, the enemies and we meet ALEX lol. Tara has entered the academy, so this book focuses more on that along with training and preparation of what's to come. As a teen, she deals with situations that many persons her age face and it was fun to sit back and watch...(see previous statement lol)

There is a cliffy at the end, but at least you don't have to wait to get book 3. I love Heather's writing style and I hope she continues to write captivating stories that stretch outside the box of normal YA Urban Fantasy.

Kelly Pruner narrates again and did better this go round. I'd love to see her tone down Cambria's sound a bit and use a more normal pitch with the same snark. Her male voice and voice as other characters are on point. Looking forward to hearing her performance in book 3.

Cold Blood

I am really enjoying Terra’s story while she is at school and learning her the new world of being a hybrid. I love the growth of the characters and the plot line. I’m excited to continue Terra’s story in the next book!

Another amazing audiobook

Where does Cold Blood rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I think it's on a second place. I loved this part even more than the first one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cold Blood?

I think the meeting between Wes and Tara when she got hurt. You could see how much he cared for her.

Which scene was your favorite?

The whole book is like a favourite scene. It's hard to say which one is the best or favourite as I simply love them all.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both. I laughed and cried. The story is simply full of emotions.

Any additional comments?

The only annoying thing is how narrator did Cambria. I did find it hard to concentrate on what she was saying but other than that I loved her narration!

Was hoping.....

I personally did not like the 2nd book. As soon as the author brought in Alex as another love interest I lost the desire to finish. I detest love triangles.
