About this listen

A master at mixing suspense and romance, New York Times best-seller Carla Neggers succeeds again with Cold Pursuit.

Secret Service agent Jo Harper springs into action when the daughter of a murdered ambassador mysteriously goes missing in the mountains of New England. Despite their differences, she enlists local tracker Elijah Cameron to aid her in the search. He suspects the girl doesn't want to be found, but Jo's fears about foul play prove correct when they encounter a killer on the trail.

Good romantic suspense

The first part of the book was a bit confusing but I stuck with it and was rewarded with a pretty good story. Good ending with the HEA for Jo and Elijah but would have liked answers to the assassins network. Maybe that will come in future books. Still worth the read/listen.

Suspense? Romance? Confused book-Disappointing!

Story: 2 Stars, slow, not well developed
Performance: 3 stars, a bit slow, not more than average
Suspense or Relationship or Heat: 1 star. very low on all three.
Overall: below ok. Not worth a credit.

STORY: Kind of slow , this is mostly a suspense story, not well developed, not Very realistic, or thrilling. There are too many characters, and therefore the charachter development is not very good.

The relationship development between the two old-flames is also sketchy. The premise is interesting, so I listened to the entire book, but it was just not executed very well, and it was somewhat predictable.

I thought this was an FBI suspense/ thriller, then I checked again and saw it was in the Romance section with a sizzling OMG rating. WHAT? there is barely any romance here, most of the book is the mystery/suspense. The little romance that is in the book is almost sweet with no heat at all in my opinion.

Interesting premise, but Not a good suspense nor a good romance! Light reading at best.

PERFORMANCE: ok, not great, a bit slow, somewhat flat. However, this narrator had a pleasant voice, so she has good potential.

OVERALL: Truly, I got to the point that I was hoping it would end and I can go to another book. So I don't think it is worth a credit. I hope this helps.
