About this listen

The USS Vicksburg is returning home when the crew comes upon a lifeboat bearing a dead Somali pirate who shows signs of torture. Questions immediately arise: Who is this man, and which ship did he come from? Who tortured him? Soon Red Cell analysts Kyra Stryker and Jonathan Burke have traced the dead man back to an Iranian ship currently bound for Venezuela - and the ship appears to have dangerous, radioactive cargo on board. The Iranians' plan quickly becomes clear - they're building a nuclear bomb in politically unstable Venezuela, away from the UN's prying eyes. Stryker and Burke must tread carefully, though, because diplomacy in Venezuela is tricky at best. A civil war is at stake if word gets out. Can they stop the Iranians before it's too late?

Great Story

This genre is not my wheelhouse at all.

Therefore I am very surprised about how much I enjoyed this.

Excellent modern war novel

Excellent storytelling, well developed plot, a little too technical for my preference.
Narrator was excellent I will be looking for more of his work.

Books like this inspire great patriotism.

This book stirs within you many emotions. The emotions range from pride, disgust, patriotism, and romance., all of which are credible. The characters portrayed are all true to life thus making it easy for the reader to create in his or her mind

Some quirks but we'll worth it.

Reader is a vast improvement over the one who did Red Cell.. Story is on par with red cell. I had similar difficulty connecting with the characters initially but these stories reward patience.
A bit quirky about alcohol, tobacco, cursing, and Mormons.... But far preferable to the excess that is so common in the genre.

Likeable heroes, gritty story, loved it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters were well defined , the plot was interesting , and personalities were conflicted enough to keep me interested.
This is not what I call a "fluff" book where you don't have to pay attention to much of the story to keep following it. Attention is needed. It's packed with information. I recommend the listen / read combination if you're person who pays only partial attention while listening.
As far as the reader, Eric G. Dove, his delivery was excellent. I love the sound of his voice.
So , having enjoyed this book so much, I'm going back to listen to the first book of the series to find out how it all came about.

Great book, another disappointing narrator

Still killing it with the story and missing it with the reading. Hoping 3rd book gets it right in audiobook land. Love this author.

Well Done!!

Mark has done it again. In this sequel to Red Cell the characters once again find themselves in the situation of working to prevent a war between the United States of America and another country. This book is an action packed adventure you see how cooler heads in the field can prevent politicians from plunging the country into yet another war.

I hope that Mark continues to write!

So glad they got a better narrator!

Glad they upgraded the narrator for the 2nd book in this series. I'm looking forward to reading the third book. Gripping story, great characters, and super realistic.
