About this listen

Mia Roper isn't a typical nineteenth-century woman. Refusing to pass up the hard-won opportunity to prove herself as a journalist, she left Hillsdale, Michigan, hoping in vain that Ayden Goswell would follow her to Boston.

When the train bringing her back for her first major story crashes in a snowstorm outside town, Mia is stranded. Not even the survival of a fellow passenger, a toddler, can ease her heart's sudden ache at seeing Ayden, now a history professor at the local college, courting someone else.

Ayden's never gotten over the fact that the most fascinating woman he ever met chose her career over marriage...and he let her go. But marrying the department director's daughter could at least guarantee him a permanent job. It's a satisfactory arrangement, yet his kind, pretty bride-to-be has one simple flaw: she's not Mia.

As soon as the trains are running, Mia will be leaving again, unless she and Ayden can reconcile ambition and love - and take a leap of faith together.

A pleasant surprise!

I will admit from the reviews I read on Amazon that this wasn't a book I was eager to read. I'm glad I did though because I was drawn into this story from the start as it immediately opens in action. I also appreciated the strong character development. I want to mention that I really liked the narrator a lot - I liked how she changed her voice with the different characters and how when Mia was crying she [the narrator] put a sob in her voice.

Lovely!

Such a beautiful story about the importance of the love of family. Miss Eakes did a wonderful job keeping me awake! Mystery, romance, danger all woven together for a perfect story.

Sweet Second Chance Romance and a side of Suspense

What made the experience of listening to Collision of the Heart the most enjoyable?

Despite butting heads and challenging each other at every possible moment, it was easy to see that Mia and Ayden still loved each other. I liked seeing their story play out. Each taking responsibility for their past. The side of suspense was a bonus and made for a thrilling end to the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think Mia was my favorite character. She had to learn that she needed community, her friends and the people that were like family to her.
I also liked Mrs. Goswell she knew what was best for her son and for Mia. She would not let Mia's unexpected return to Hillsdale go to waste. Things needed to be settled one way or the other.

What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?

I thought Angela Dawe did a really good job bringing the personalities of each character out.
She added just the right amount of drama where needed.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Sweet Second Chance at Romance With an Order of Suspense on the Side.

Any additional comments?

This is listed in listed in the Christian Historical Romance. There is an element of faith but this is not preachy. It is a clean read/listen. Very enjoyable!

It was ok

Decent characters but a little too one-dimensional and innocent for my tastes. Ok if you like predictable stories.
