About this listen

Performance coach Jake Thompson shares the seven key choices that leaders make in order to enhance their focus, increase their levels of success, and win their work and life. Compete Every Day examines the important actions that the best of the best make on a daily basis in order to separate themselves from everyone else. The lessons shared can be used by everyone, but most rarely do believe that "winning can't be that simple". In reality, it is that simple. The magic, however, is in the application of these seven lessons every single day. You'll learn how embracing your own "Competitor Mindset" will allow you to do just that. Compete Every Day will motivate and empower you to embrace your inner competitor and strive for the higher levels of success in your work and life that you're truly capable of achieving.

This book made me uncomfortable with all of the ways that I've accommodated underperformance in my life.

UNBELIEVABLE

Jake showed his passion in the stories and his performance. overall the message is good but nothing that is some secret to success. I liked his overview and action steps at the end of the chapters.

There are a lot of clichés, and the information is somewhat repetitive of other current motivational books, but written, in a very easy to understand style. Great book for younger people, enthusiastic performance.

I've never been able to stay focused on self help books because I always found them repetitive and obvious. This book was so well written I felt like I was listening to a podcast about an interesting subject. Perfect for my morning commute to start off my day before work. 10/10 recommend. Open your eyes to your own bullshit and get started. Let's grow!

I don't even like self help books

I love the brand. However, looking at this book from an open perspective, it is not for everyone. If you're in to lots of sport references (past games, former/current athletes, your own sports life experience), then this book is for you. I felt the book is not appealing to those who can't relate to these glory moments. Mudding through the references, the points made by the author are just sub-par. Maybe because there isnt a lot of life experience known by the author. I find there are better reads/listens out there than this.

Others have said the same things in a more impactful way. The music between seconds is annoying.
