About this listen
CrossFit trainer Ben Bergeron has helped build the world's fittest athletes, but he's not like other coaches. He believes that greatness is not for the elite few; that winning is a result, not a goal; and that character, not talent, is what makes a true champion. His powerful philosophy can help anyone excel at all aspects of life.
Using the dramatic competition between the top contenders at the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games® as a background, Ben explores the step-by-step process of achieving excellence and the unique set of positive character traits necessary for leveling up to world-class. The mindset and methodology that have produced some of the greatest athletes in the world's most grueling sport can work equally well for golfers, lawyers, artists, entrepreneurs - anyone who's willing to commit totally to becoming better than the best.
By Chasing Excellence, you'll discover how extraordinary it's possible for you to be.

You may not be aware of these details, yet they’ve been influencing you all along. Every time you purchase, swipe, or click, marketers are able to more accurately predict your behavior. These days, brands know more about you than you know about yourself. Blindsight is here to change that.

Story
Human beings are primates, and primates are political animals. Our brains, therefore, are designed not just to hunt and gather but also to help us get ahead socially, often via deception and self-deception. But while we may be self-interested schemers, we benefit by pretending otherwise. The less we know about our own ugly motives, the better - and thus, we don't like to talk, or even think, about the extent of our selfishness. This is "the elephant in the brain".

Emotional intelligence affects every aspect of the way we live, from romantic to professional relationships, from our inner resilience to our social success. It is arguably the single most important skill for surviving the twenty-first century. But what does it really mean? One decade ago, Alain de Botton founded The School of Life, an institute dedicated to understanding and improving our emotional intelligence. Now he presents the gathered wisdom of those ten years in a wide-ranging and innovative compendium of emotional intelligence that forms an introduction to The School of Life.

Trust the process
I really love Bergeron’s approach to life and this book lays it out succinctly and engagingly as told through the lens of the 2016 crossfit games. I will listen to this many more times when I need a reminder to trust the process and focus on excellence. Awesome book!

Awesome read for any athlete
I loved reading this book in fact I listened to it the
whole way through multiple times. I’m a competitive boxer and I found The message in this book to be powerful and inspiring. I think any athlete should take seriously the mindset that Bergeron talks about.
Loved it! Nothing wrong with the narration.

One of the best books on mindset
It is very simple. Don't compare yourself to others and do not focus on the results. Commit to being your absolute best daily and over time you will become the best version of yourself which is all you can hope for. Thankful he wrote this book!

Amazing Read
I probably listen to this book once a month. It’s a gut check for chasing excellence in my fitness journey, in my coaching journey, in my work journey, and even in my mom and wife journey. If you don’t listen to this book and fall in love with the grind all over again I’ll call you a liar! Love having this audiobook to remind me to put in the work, every single day.

Great content and very motivating
If you could sum up Chasing Excellence: A Story About Building the World's Fittest Athletes in three words, what would they be?
Chasing Excellence is all about the journey that Ben Bergeron went on to take on three of the most elite athletes in all of CrossFit. Ben coached them up to be the best and reminded them, constantly, that they had it within them all along, but it required discipline.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Character? I suppose hearing about Katrin's obstacles that she had to overcome gave real personality to her "character".
What about Ben Bergeron’s performance did you like?
I loved that he read the book himself, since he wrote it himself.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Control the controllable and let the uncontrollable go
Any additional comments?
Ben reads it like he writes it, so he's not quite Shakespeare. However, even though simply written and read as a run-on sentence at times, Ben lived this and by sharing his story, he'll motivate millions.

fault revealing and mental growth
This book needs to be read or heard by everyone for growth. From the moment it began, it slightly demands a focus that is natural. it then proceeds to tell you the truth to clarity and success while showing you what you are lacking. I loved it!
