RITA Award Winner, Romantic Suspense, 2015

The incomparable J. D. Robb presents the latest moving and suspenseful novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling Eve Dallas series.

In a decrepit and long-empty New York building, a man begins the demolition process by swinging a sledgehammer into a wall. When the dust clears, he finds two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. The man is Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s billionaire husband, Roarke, and he summons her immediately. His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

After a little digging reveals that the place housed a makeshift shelter for troubled and homeless teenagers back in the mid-2040s, Eve tracks down the people who worked there. Between their recollections and the brilliant work of the force’s new forensic anthropologist, Eve begins to put names and faces to the skeletal remains. They are all girls. A tattooed tough teenager who dealt in illegal drugs. The runaway daughter of a pair of well-to-do doctors. They all had their stories. And they all lost their chance for a better life.

Everyone has something to hide. And when Eve discovers a stunning connection between the victims and someone she knows, she is even more driven to reveal the secrets of the place that was called The Sanctuary - and to find the evil concealed in one human heart.

Susan Ericksen is awesom in this series

Where does Concealed in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

J.D. Rob (Nora Roberts) has found something to write about in every one of the "In Death" stories The only two books I found truly distressing were "New York to Dallas" and "Thankless in Death" (reason being the amount of horrible and gruesome descriptions of the crimes were very difficult for anyone who's ever experienced any brutality to themselves or family member) I couldn't finish those books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

All the characters and especially Dallas......and Mavis but all of them make the stories amazing

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I've heard Susan Ericksen narrate other books as well and for this series I don't think I could imagine anyone else doing the narrations as well She is the entire cast of characters. Go Susan.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

When telling a parent that their child who's been missing is dead, that just chokes me up, especially the way Ms Ericksen expresses emotions.

Any additional comments?

Some of the "In Death" series I found hard to listen to because of the intense descriptions of brutality. (only about 4 books) But in every book there are always twists and turns, and they usually come up at the very end. Waiting for book # 39

Found this storyline very repetative

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Susan Ericksen is brilliant

Any additional comments?

I love the IN Death series but was a bit disappointed with the storyline in this book.
The identifying of the bodies and the following interviews by Dallas started to become very repetitive and I nearly stopped listening (audio book). Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series, hope it's soon Nora.

Excellent story Absolute best performance

The performance is the best, by far, bar none of any audible I've heard. Bravo!

Another Great Lt. Dallas book.

This series is never ending and for that I am grateful. This is an easy listening detective story that is easy to listen to and enjoyable. I like the characters and the twists and turns of the story line. A good 'read'.
