Publisher's summary

I’m famous for two things: being one of the best defensemen in the NHL and my classic pranks.

My teammates always said one of my jokes would bite me in my Scottish arse one day, and they were right.

After a prank goes wrong, I’m sentenced to six weeks community service under none other than the sexy, rule-abiding, smart-mouthed city clerk of Sweet Water—Annabelle Clarke.

Lucky for me it’s off season. Unlucky for me? I want Annabelle like I want my next breath. She’s smart, luscious, and wound-tighter than a Scottish drum. Och, I’d love to be the one to help loosen her strings.

She’s made it clear that while I’m under her employment, she won’t be under me. The white-hot chemistry we can’t deny must be ignored at all costs.

But bantering with her is soon my favorite pastime, and she’s the sweetest forbidden fruit I’ve ever tasted.

As we grow closer, one thing is absolutely clear: a summer with Annabelle Clarke can only end one of two ways...satisfaction or surrender. I can only hope we can weather the storm when the sky inevitably crashes down on us.

Narration is awful

Female narrator ruins the story. Her Scottish accent sounds Eastern European, so distracting and unattractive I could barely finish. It’s decent story too, such a shame the female narrator ruined the book

Love the series but not my Favorite female lead

I love Connell but Annabelle was to insecure and wishy washy. She knew he was trustworthy and he told her things would be said but still she did not even ask or give him the benefit of the doubt, just reacted to gossip rags. Make women sound like raven witches. Overall connecting characters in the series but her reaction was way overblown and just frustrating to the reader.

Worst Audiobook I’ve Ever Listened To

PLEASE get new narrators for the rest of this series! These narrators are butchering these books.

For how expensive this audiobook is listed as, at $34.99, you’d think Podium would have found a narrator who can actually pull of a Scottish accent. But no. Instead we got this mangled attempt that was a weird mix of Irish, American English, and Scottish accents all done badly and inconsistently. This was the biggest waste of money and actually insulting that it would be released with such poor quality.

I would have bought this entire series of audiobooks if it didn’t have these narrators, but this is the last straw. For the love of all that’s holy - don’t ruin Cannon with these two. If you are wondering why sales are so low for these audiobooks, it’s because of the narrators!

Terrible accents

I’ve loved the other books I’ve read in this series. I may have loved this one, as well, but the narration really ruined it for me. When it’s a story about a Scottish person, the accents used shouldn’t sound borderline Russian. It was really bad and distracted from the story.

DNF Believe Other Reviews About Narration

I like this series so I didn’t listen when other people said the narration was terrible. How bad could it be, right? It was worse than I imagined. The female narrator’s ‘Scottish’ accent sounds like that Count character from Sesame Street. Not attractive at all! I couldn’t listen past the third chapter. If she can’t do a Scottish accent, which I understand is difficult, then just use a regular accent and don’t butcher the whole story. We’re supposed to find this guy attractive and masculine but all I could hear was that stupid puppet from Sesame Street. Awful.
