About this listen

We hooked up. I had his baby. He never found out—until now.

Lucca Pixon is the hockey player everyone dreams about being near—and being with. And, yes, I secretly had his baby.

The truth could cost me my career and get him into trouble, too, so the single mom life is how I’ve been surviving. That is, until I’m given an assignment. It looks like Luc has gotten himself into trouble again, and it’s my job to write about it.

The last thing I should do is randomly show up before a hockey game with a baby in a stroller and tell Luc he’s the father.

Spoiler alert: that’s exactly what I do.

Great Little story

This is a good list and the only thing I would say is, I cannot stand when there’s a conversation with more than two people. The author continually tells you who’s talking versus just allowing you to listen to the conversation organically it gets a little crazy.

Okay

I didn’t think I could make it through with the male narration. He talks loud then soft, it was annoying.

Could not finish

I could not make it through this book. First of all the girl narrator was OK, except her male voices were absolutely awful. I thought the guy narrator was pretty good. He actually seem like he really put a lot of feelings into what he was saying. What I kept having an issue with was here was this woman who got pregnant and made the choice to not tell the guy When she was pregnant and for the first number of months after the baby was born and yet she kept throwing it in his face that he wasn’t around and even the guy’s sister kept saying that he hasn’t been there for his kid in for the girl and every single time her brother mentions that he never knew about it she just Ignores it like it means nothing. It’s like they’re trying to make it seem like he is the bad person in the situation. Plus all of the inappropriate comments and stupid sex jokes were ridiculous. No one ever talks like that to anybody. I really wish romance authors would stop that. Nobody will turn every little thing someone says into a stupid, sex, joke or innuendo. Also, yes, she is the one whose body was changing and she is the one who carried the baby and gave birth and all that. But when she had her inner monologue about it, not being very baby, but being her baby, that was ridiculous. it is still his baby, even though he wasn’t the one that was pregnant. It is both parents baby. I really had some high hopes for this book but unfortunately I was let down. I am definitely not going to bother with it is still his baby, even though he wasn’t the one that was pregnant. It is both parents baby. I really had some high hopes for this book but unfortunately I was let down. I am definitely not going to bother with the rest of the series. the rest of the series.

Not bad but weak premise

Funny some times and sweet some other times. The heroine’s reasoning is stupid for a grown woman, especially where it counts. The reason she reveals the baby, the reason she writes a revengeful story and reason she holds onto a job she despises.
The final conflict is predictable throughout the book and is the reason I disliked the heroine, but this is fiction and morals don’t seem to matter.
As others mentioned, the female narrator’s rendition of male characters is horrible. She makes the father sound perpetually drunk and the hockey players sound like assholes, most of the time.

Weird

This was probably the weirdest tried to be funny romcom I’ve ever listened to. The main female character was raunchy and not my type of female. She seemed like the person that would sleep with anyone. The narration was also weird the female voice wasn’t horrible but her male dialogue was cringy. I’ve listened to some questionable stories and this one was by far the worst.

Didn’t even finish

Literally both of the narrator’s kinda make it hard to get through this book. The guys voice was everywhere and was kinda cringe while the woman’s ‘guy voice’ just had me constantly thinking oh not again. The story just had me so frustrated, to the point where i just had to tell myself ‘it’s not that serious just put the book down’. In the beginning a BIG point of contention that everyone and their mother brings up is that he wasn’t there for her and doesn’t know what it’s like to be pregnant. LIKE HE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW SHE WAS PREGNANT! He legit had no idea of the situation. I get it both characters are flawed but damn it felt like that sentiment was being rammed down my throat. The small things like word choice and the cadence of the narrators also made it easier to decide to not finish it this book.
