About this listen

Revenge turns into unbridled passion when a Scottish nobleman steals his enemy's intended bride.

With hatred in his heart, Sir Arryn Graham rides out to Seacairn Castle to avenge the murder of his wife and unborn child. But first, he will claim the woman betrothed to Lord Kinsey Darrow for himself. Then he'll ruin her. And he won't rest until everything and everyone that belongs to the English nobleman is destroyed. But Lady Kyra of Seacairn is not what he expects. The beautiful, strong-willed daughter of a Scotswoman, Kyra is now an English subject, promised in marriage by the ruthlessly plundering King Edward. She will not be a pawn - not Darrow's and not this vengeful Scottish knight's. But when a carefully orchestrated seduction ignites irresistible passion, Kyra is swept into the heat of battle, risking the gallows for a breathtaking love.

Conquer the Night is the second novel in Heather Graham's medieval Scottish series that features the Graham clan, Gaelic-speaking Lowlanders who fight with their Highland brethren for the country they love.

Main character drove me crazy! She did not have any common sense at all. I did not realize how old this book was but plot made little sense. None of the characters would have behaved in this manner.

Way Too Much Talking!!!

I enjoy Heather Graham books but this particular heroin is so irritating. I wanted to scream at her.

a very irritating heroine

Yes it met expectation...

The battle and when the scots won...

The narrator was really good. Sandra really does a good job in changing voices..

Exciting medieval story

This was a very good story with a good pace. The narrator was excellent and provided an excellent distinction to the characters with her accents and tones.

Excellent

I truly enjoyed this story about a young lady who felt she was merely a pawn for the king she served. Given to a man she despised. In love with a man who only wanted vengeance against her betrothed. This story is so well written I did not want to stop listening! I believe you we'll find it a lovely romance too!

A Lovely Romance

I stopped at the end of chapter 5 when our 'hero' rapes our 'heroine'. Not my idea of the start of a romance. I understand that was common in the 13th century, but I am willing to overlook inaccuracy in this case.

I believe this was written to be a historical masterpiece with a romance thrown in. Didn't do it for me. I loved the introduction, where the King was rushing home to see his new wife, but was not impressed with the rest of the story.
Also I did not like the male and female lead. I particularly did not like the female, Kiera. She was portrayed as being brave good fighter, etc. However she came across as hateful and over the top defiant from the beginning and did not improve as the story progressed. Kiera was taken by Aaron, a Scotsman who lost his wife to a horrible deed perpetrated by Kiera's soon to be English husband. Aaron wants to avenge his wife's death by ruining Kiera - thus punishing her fiancé Then the predictable occurs - attraction, sparks, love, etc. It all happened very quickly and, in my opinion, there was no chemistry between the two. Then of course came hardships to overcome and Kiera's wicked fiancé to deal with. You know the story.

Author tried hard, but missed the mark
