About this listen
In the frozen wilderness of Antarctica, a team of researchers makes a shocking discovery: a century-old ship buried deep in the ice. As they begin to excavate the vessel, they realize that it holds a dark secret—inside, they find the frozen remains of a crew, long dead from a mysterious plague.
Alerted to the event, an agent of the Outlier division is dispatched to investigate. Discovering that the ship was part of Shackleton's expedition to the South Pole and that the plague on board is unlike any they have seen before. With the help of the only survivor from the research team, they must race against time to unravel the mystery of the plague and prevent it from being unleashed on the world once again.
But as they dig deeper into the secrets of its past, they soon realise that there was a darker side to the expedition involving an ancient ritual and a powerful man who would stop at nothing to possess it. Can they uncover the truth and prevent disaster, or will they become the latest victims of the deadly plague?
Filled with danger, adventure, and time-traveling twists and turns, “Contagion” is a thrilling tale of survival in a world where the past and the future are intertwined.

As a teenager, Quinn Starkweather builds a computer program that accurately predicts world events. He has created a Nostradamus machine. While Quinn becomes very wealthy, the program predicts the world will be torn apart by financial inequity. The 99.9% will rise up against the billionaires in what is dubbed The Rage Wars. The world stands on the razor’s edge of disaster. With enough warning of the coming apocalypse, Quinn builds an ark in the desert—a self-sufficient domed city he calls Altor.

The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Story
When the end of the world arrived, it came not with a bang, as most expected, but with more of a "pfft" instead. Humanity has been torn asunder and brought to the edge of total annihilation in less than an hour. For those who died, it was a quick death, so fast that their brains didn't have time to process the pain signals from their nerves. For those who survived, the true horror is about to begin as they struggle to not only stay alive, but come to grips with the shocking realization about what - and who - was responsible.

Impressed with the story
I had my doubts on where the story could go after the first 4 books but very impressed with the result. Enjoyed sophistication of the layers and character development. Can’t wait for the next one.

Wow! A great bounce back after book 5
This book brought back all the joy that the first book introduced. Multiple storylines, adventure, time travel, a weaving of history. A great way to “end” the six part series….and if you listen carefully, Dubya makes a guest appearance.
I hope Andrew Hastie provides us with more to the Infinity Engines series.

What a fantastic use of current events to introduce new characters into the story line. I thought we'd meet everyone and was simple a continuation but no. Mr. Haiste has a stellar talent for story weaving!
