About this listen

In 1953, a mother's routine drive home is transformed into a time-travel odyssey when the light from a mysterious spacecraft hurls her and her car to 2023, setting in motion a series of extraordinary events and a life-and-death decision.

On a serene night in 1953, Sally Mason, a dedicated wife and mother of two, drives a twisting road on her way home from night school. Suddenly, a mysterious bluish-white light descends over the road.

Terrified, Sally slams on the brakes. After a flash of bright light nearly blinds her, she passes out, awakening to the persistent knock of a police officer on her car window. When she sees the officer and remembers her frightening experience, she screams and faints, and is rushed to the hospital.

What Sally does not know, and what the police eventually and reluctantly conclude, is that Sally and her car have been hurled ahead in time from 1953 to 2023.

Driven by the urgency to reunite with her children, Sally is forced to confront the reason for her time leap journey and to grapple with a life-and-death decision.

Needlessly hesitant

How refreshing to have a time-travel tale, which doesn't involve gore, armed battles, explicit sex, and great cruelty. I was afraid it also wouldn't keep my attention, but it did. I was glad to add this to my weekend pleasure reading.

A mistake in the time line.

The reader was very good and so was the story until the mistake in the time line at the end. I will not say what it is as it would be a spoiler but it has to do with Burt.

Good but the conversations are stilted

The characters say each others names many times per conversation. It’s distracting. Good storyline with twists.

A sweet incursion into the emotions of Time Travel

I was taken in by both: • the author’s intellectual framework; and • the communicative voice of the narrator. I’m not sure which of those two qualities I enjoyed the most.

Intriguing Story of Time Traveling

I appreciated the story of Sally who had the chance to see life from two perspectives. It was nice to have the story wrapped up in a single volume. I'm glad I listened to the book.

Light, fun sci-fi

This novel about time travel is silly and predictable. The characters are not especially believable, but Sally, the protagonist, is likable, and I could not help but enjoy this story. I love time travel stories, and filled with aliens, UFOs, and CIA agents, the plot of this was fun. Sally is transported away from her family in 1953 to the modern world of 2023, where all she wants is to return to her children and her old life. This book has so many stereotypes, but but I found myself enjoying it in spite of that. This light feel-good novel worked for me.

Decent story but flips character half way through

It starts one way where nobody believes in time travel and it's inconceivable and then flips into every science fiction trope ever. It's not a bad story but I'd have expected it to retain it's character in one form or the other.

Solid

Decent time travel story that kept me interested but overall it was nothing special. Do not expect a science fiction story with challenging philosophical issues.

Fascinating

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The story, the narrator, and the whole idea drew me in. Comparing the 1950s to 2023 was a fun element. I was not able to predict what would happen, and I loved that. Definitely recommend.
