Publisher's summary

Deep in debt and stranded, a suicide mission may be this crew's only hope....

Liam Hoffen thought saving the world would cut him and his friends some slack. Instead, they're bankrupt, shipwrecked, and fugitives on a backwater planet. So much for gratitude....

But, after discovering an ancient Kroerak ship, Liam sees an opportunity to locate the home world of the vicious alien species. When they set out to uncover the mysteries of the ship, things are looking up until he finds out the truth: Every other crew who tried to solve the mystery was never heard from again....

Corsair Menace is the 12th book and the start of a new standalone arc in the Privateer Tales saga, a series of captivating space operas. If you like plucky planetary explorers, exhilarating combat scenes, and modern takes on classic sci-fi adventures, then you'll love Jamie McFarlane's electrifying addition to the expanding Privateer Tales universe.

Ender Wiggin, the Xenocide

I loved his reference to Ender's Game. What happened to OS Card makes me very sad, but that will always be one of the all-time great science fiction adolescent novels. And if he makes another Ender/Bean novel someday, I will certainly read it, as I have all the others. That being said, this book is definitely too heavy on the "dance scenes" particularly with the bugs. If I want endless bug fights, I will just re-read Starship Troopers. After all, I am ALWAYS OTB! ;-)

Another solid entry to the Privateer Tales Series

What did you love best about Corsair Menace?

I enjoyed the 'crew' figuring out how to survive in a new place under new rules. I'd like more of that story.

What did you like best about this story?

The good guys win, and the group never strikes it rich! :-)

Have you listened to any of Mikael Naramore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes - he's a superb reader - one of the best.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well that was the primary issue. There wasn't much character development and some plot points didn't really gel. If you fight pirates, you send them out the airlock when you catch them. It needed more grit. At this stage, I'd like to see the characters get a little more ruthless as they are no longer starry eyed youth.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to the next one!

Another good outing

This series of books is very entertaining. This book doesn’t break a lot of
New ground, but it was fun and the reading was excellent!

Breaks from the Series

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I have listened to every book I could get in this series. Really enjoyed them.
This one was a little too much drama overcoming the impossible, time after time. .

What could Jamie McFarlane have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Personally the it has to many Peaks and valleys over the top drama against impossible odds

What about Mikael Naramore’s performance did you like?

The performance is first rate, best of the best..

Could you see Corsair Menace being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Earlier books would be much better.
