Publisher's summary

Miss Evangeline Payne has not lived the charmed life she would have liked. Her father is mean and neglectful at best. He sends her to stay with her aunt who plans to marry her off to an old man.

Sebastian, the Earl of Somerset, has been pretending to be unintelligent most of his life. The subterfuge has aided his spying activities. Bas has one mission left and he can then do as he wishes.

Eva and Bas cross paths at a house party. He has his mission, and she has hers. If luck and love have their way those two things will collide for both of them.

Sweet Regency Romance

This is book 12 in the Christmas Wallflowers Series, a Regency Romance. Evangeline and Sebastian's story is beautifully written, sweet, and heartwarming. Evangeline is beautiful, and kind. Sebastian is handsome, and determined. The story is filled with mystery, secrets, humor, and twists and turns. The supporting characters are interesting. Nicole Bates did a good job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Evangeline and Sebestian

Evangeline is sent to live with her aunt. Her aunt intends for her to marry an old man, against her wishes. Eva comes up with some interesting to ways to avoid her aunt’s intentions. Sebestian is really an Earl, but acts as a simpleton, to aid in his research of a smuggling ring. This is a clean and humorous romance. I found it an enjoyable tale. The narration was well done. short courtship

Story of abandoned Evangeline and the supposed low-intellect Earl, Sebastian. they met in a house party hosted by Evangeline's aunt, who had goals for her niece to get betrothed. The earl was in a mission and he was befriended by Evangeline.
The two has strong emotional intelligence, though they wouldn't/didn't divulge, each one perceives something from the other. It was a great way for the two to take notice of each one. I thought this was a great way the author laid the foundation for their attraction.
This another great short, clean, love story from this author.

Christmas Love

This is Evangeline and Sebastian's story. It is a short story. She is living with her Aunt to find a husband. Her aunt gives a Christmas party for her to meet someone. Sebastian is going to the party with his cousins. Everyone thinks he is a nitwit and good for spying. You will laugh a lot with every antic that is happening.

Enchanting Story … Historical Holiday Delight

I absolutely adored this story of the stuttering Christmas wallflower and her hero, an earl who has had to “play dumb” at the request of his grandfather the duke to aid with his spying missions. The heroine is so sympathetic, cast off by her father to the care of a rather unpleasant aunt (with more unpleasant friends), whom her father hopes will get her married off. Her stutter has caused problems her entire life; any sort of physical “defect” is heavily frowned upon by le bon ton. Her aunt and father don't have much patience with her or it, either. The poor beleaguered hero has quite the reputation for not having a cogent thought in his head; it has aided his spying for his grandfather for years, but he wants out of the game. His grandfather will release him from spying duties once he marries. The heroine was sympathetic to the hero before she even met him, after hearing a couple of catty women discuss his supposed “stupidness.” I loved the interactions between these two characters! Both are so much more than others perceive them to be, and in each other, they find someone who understands and appreciates them for who they are. Sigh! I love that in a romance. The heroine is pretty smart herself and is actually able to aid the hero in his spying quest. Some fun peripheral characters we've met in other books of this series are present. This book mostly takes place at a holiday house party that has been a factor in other books of this series as well. While I haven't read or listened to it yet, the build-up the author has given to Serafina and her romance makes me anticipate it with glee. Throughout several books, we've definitely seen the potential for a sparking enemies-to-lovers romance. If you're looking for a delightful, heartfelt Regency Christmas story, look no further than this book.
