About this listen

She’s the fated mate he never wanted...and the human who will bring him to his knees.

As the daughter of a traveling chef, I grew up flitting around different galaxies, immersing myself in fascinating cultures, and rubbing noses with socialites. Coming to Krynn was a new chapter, a permanent place to finally call home.

But when tragedy strikes and I’m suddenly alone, broke, and desperate, I take work at a dyaan. An establishment where the Kylorr—blood-drinking, winged, fearsome aliens with berserker-like rages—come to feed on willing necks to satisfy their fierce hunger.

That’s where I meet him. Kythel of House Kaalium, the ruler of Erzos, with his mesmerizing eyes like fractured ice and a sinful voice that captivates me.

We’re polar opposites. I’m a hopeful optimist who always looks for silver linings. He’s guarded and mistrustful, a wealthy heir to a powerful legacy, who thrives on rigid, unbending control. Yet he craves my blood with a frenzy that maddens him, and he’ll stop at nothing to claim me.

But when the forbidden desire between us becomes too tempting to resist, I fear it will destroy us both...especially when an impossible choice threatens to be our ruin: duty or love?

eh....

I loved the first book for those *scenes* because sometimes they actually made my jaw drop and the build up to the scene kept me on edge. When the second book popped up I had no hesitation to listen to it. This book is good and the voice actors are fine but it's boring. It's mostly just day to day details and feelings but not really sexy at all. I have three hours left to listen and the scenes that have happened are so dull you miss it if you're already doing something, it's like you don't even know it's happening. This is just me personally there are good reviews of this book and some do enjoy it but it's just too much talking not enough action for me.

Craving In His Blood- Zoey Draven
Narrated by Veronica Pace and Marcio Cataland

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

Zoey is very quickly becoming one of my favorite sci-fi authors. I love this series so much, and I’m not sure which one I like more between books one and two. Veronica and Marcio did a fabulous job in this audio as well. I loved Marcio in book one and knew he would do an amazing job in book two as well. This is the first audio I’ve listened to it Veronica’s and she did incredible!

Millie grew up as the adopted human daughter of traveling Kylorr chef. She traveled to all the galaxies and worlds immersing herself in difference cultures. When her father passed she made him a promise that she would bring his body back to Krynn (a planet/galaxy) where he can be at rest with the woman he once loved. For Millie, that means she needs to find the means of bringing him there. She’s working at basically a bloodbank for vampire gargoyle berserker aliens when she meets Kythel, the ruler of Erzos, which is basically like the (country/kingdom) they’re on/in.

The first time Kythel sees Millie, he knows she is his blood mate. He tries to keep his distance but he can’t, so he forms a friendship with her. Eventually their friendship costs her her job and the only place she has to turn is to him for help. They make a deal that she would be his blood source for one month only and then they would go their separate ways because he is duty bound to marry another noble to strengthen their country’s allegiances with war on the horizon. What will happen when their month is up? Will Millie be able to get her dad to Krynn as his last wish?

Great story

Great narrators. World building was phenomenal. The depth and emotions of the characters was so vivid and deep that I found myself tearing up quite a few times.

Good Listen!

Millie & Kythel

I received an audio copy from Home Cooked Books and listened to it through BookFunnel.

The narrators did a good job telling the story and giving the characters a voice in a way that keeps you entertained.

Millie is working in like restaurant/brothel type place that is a pit stop for food, drinks and blood trying to earn credits to get her father's body and give him the burial he deserves.

Kythel comes from high class society and is also a warrior in the war that is going on. He sees Millie and is instantly drawn to her but tries to avoid the connection. He is expected to marry the daughter of another clan to bring the two together but he feel Millie is his mate but he fears it because she is human. An entertaining story, not only do you get their story but you also get the details on the war going on.

The chemistry

This is the second book in the series, and I couldn’t wait for Kythels story. Kythel comes from high-class society, and so he is expected to marry someone to bring the clans together. He sees Millie and is instantly drawn to her from the very first moment. He feels the connection and tries to fight it, but he can't stay away. Really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next book.

I got the audio and really loved the narrators. Ever since the first book, I added them to my top favorites.

Fated mates, vampire types, & fabulous narration.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 Paranormal/fantasy/Sci-fi romance with a human and a Kylorr, “blood-drinking, winged, fearsome aliens with berserker-like rages.”
🤩 I’ve realized this year how much I enjoy fated mates and vampire types. Leaky venom makes me pretty hot for Kylorr.
🤩 Veronica Pace is an amazing Millie—so sweet and devoted but also strong and brave. And, she does a great job switching to some meaner voices/characters.
🤩 Marcio Catalano is fabulous and gives us all the different feels from Kythel—all business, distracted by desire, lust-filled, and rage.
🤩 The fated-mate aspects totally worked on me—how Kythel finds Millie’s scent irresistible and how he craves her blood and much more.
🤩 The suspense plot is interesting and captivating. And, the other part of the plot, how their stories entwine, is endearing.
🤩 When Kythel goes protective mode over Millie.
🤩 This second story totally works as a standalone, but I highly recommend the first as well. The following things are what I loved about the first book and still loved in this one.
🤩 Zoey Draven is deliciously descriptive (about the scenery too).
🤩 The world building imagery seemed like Star Wars combined with Black Panther setting vibes.

What I’m Wishing/ Dizzy About:
💫 I don’t like how, at the beginning, Kythel thinks of Millie as ugly and nothing special in looks.

This is a wonderful series.

I love duet style narration and these two were excellent. I also enjoyed the way the characters interacted and learned about each other. I am really enjoying this series.
