About this listen

Chivalry is far from dead in the third novel in the "gut-wrenchingly funny" (Open Book Society) Matchmaker in Wonderland Romance series.

Stranded in England without money or a ticket home, Mercy Starling takes a job working for a medieval reenactment company. Dressing in armor and wielding swords and longbows is a blast, but the best part is going to Bestwood Hall and meeting its intriguing new owner.

The painfully shy Alden Ainslie is overwhelmed by the medieval reenactors who invade the Tudor house he's renovating, but he's drawn to the bubbly Mercy. And he valiantly joins in the fun, dodging not just arrows, lances, and the odd sword thrust but also some pretty suspicious - and potentially deadly - attacks on himself.

Someone wants him to give up on the house. But Alden is desperate to prove himself - and win the heart of his lady fair.

Funny, good narration & story

This is a humorous story. The girl doesn’t take herself too seriously. The guy takes himself too seriously and has difficulty speaking to women he likes. Perfect match! This is funny, sexy, and has a very good story that kept me quite interested. I listened to it twice! The epilogue gave a twist I did not expect but was a pleasant surprise. I may have found a new author to follow. Really enjoyed the narration. May try others narrated by the same two. Saskatoon is the reason I tries this audible! Love when she narrates a book!

Knocked my #1 most favorite book down to #2

For many years my #1 book has been You Slay Me (also my Katie MacAlister). I have read it many times and got other people reading it and LOVING it also. I got this for the start of the Romance package and I am more than just pleased. I have never laughed out loud so much to any other book in my life. My laughter could be heard in other rooms of the house. Sometimes I had difficulty calming down to read more. To say I love this book is an extreme understatement. I look forward to re-reading it sometime soon in the future. I read over 200 books a year and I have a select few that I just can't help but re-read on a regular basis. You Slay Me has been read at least 10 times by me. It never gets old and a big reason is the character Jim. There is a sequel to 'Daring in a Blue Dress' and I will be reading that too. I have a feeling it will also be high on my best loved books list.

I love the characters in this book and the story line is GREAT and it has just enough naughty to make it soooo much fun. I love how the romantic connection was done in a non-syrupy way.

I dare anyone to read this and try not to laugh and enjoy the ride. I betcha can't. LOL

Delightful little romp thru Cornwall

A crumbling Manor worthy of the Money Pit, archery, sexytimes, a rodent du rampant, and some armor plated hijinks. this story is just sweet and cute and a little sexy. I love books with shy beta males and chatterbox heroines, this one fit the bill!

Sadly... *mild spoilers*

Look, I have loved every book that I have previously read by Katie McAlister, but I could not get past chapter 4 of this book. The story line of the beginning of the book is one that I loathe in any movie or story. The premise that someone buys a home, makes provision for the previous owner to live in another house on the grounds, then arrives to said home with previous owner still there - refusing to vacate said home - and on top of that, the non-owner had made a contract with a group to be there and use the grounds for their event for 3 weeks. AND ALDEN CAN'T GET THE BALLS UP TO MAKE THEM LEAVE?!?! I mean seriously, call the lawyer or police or whatever. it isn't that hard. On top of that, this Mercy chick, being a 'peacemaker' middle child, treating Alden like she actually has some say over his affairs? Like who the hell is she? She just got there and doesn't really know him from adam. maybe later on in the book Alden has fun and enjoys it all but the beginning of the book honestly ruined it for me.
