About this listen

The author of the bestselling NUMA and Dirk Pitt series returns with a novel of adventure and intrigue featuring his unbeatable hero of the high seas: Juan Cabrillo.

Cabrillo and his motley crew aboard the clandestine spy ship Oregon have made a very comfortable and very dangerous living working for high-powered Western interests. But their newest clients have come from the Far East to ask for Cabrillo's special brand of assistance. They're a consortium of Japanese shipping magnates whose fortunes are being threatened by brutal pirates trolling the waters of Southeast Asia.Normally, such attacks on the high seas are limited to smaller ships and foreign-owned yachts-easy targets on the open ocean. Now, however, giant commercial freighters are disappearing. But when Cabrillo confronts the enemy, he learns that the pirates' predations hide a deadly international conspiracy-a scheme of death and slavery that Juan Cabrillo is going to blow out of the water.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I will not buy any more abridged books. I have read many books by this author and have enjoyed them all.

Abridged version was a disappointment

The only reason it’s not 5 star. It’s not even the story’s fault I’m sure. Probably audible’s fault. But they cut out some of the best parts from the book. Which I can’t seem to understand why? So I gave a 3 star to catch someone’s attention to tell me why? The story is 5 star for sure.

3 star overall explained

This one seems shorter than the others I have listened to but the story is quite good.

Narration is average.

Great Story Line

great book just didn't like the language and really didn't want to hear Gods name and Jesus' name used in vain.
the story was definitely good enough by itself without God's name being used in vain
love the story keep up the good work awesome narrator on this one ranks right up there with Scott Brick

great story

This is one of Chrysler's shortest books, but it chucked full with action, suspense, and even a side of love. If you loved Golden Buddha you will love this one as well.

Great read, suspense and action

This is another story about the ship Oregon and crew. Covers pirates to human trafficking to banking. Fast pace and lots of action. Tom Wopat did a good job reading the story. The only downside to the book was that is was abridged. They did a good job with the abridgment as I could keep track from one action and problem to the next. Book was not long enough but good for a short book between longer or more complicated books. Worth the read.

As always the Oregon adventures have a root of the past, slide into the present then pull all of them together in a thrilling adventure.

Great mix of current event and thriller

If you could sum up Dark Watch in three words, what would they be?

Being a huge Cussler fan, I was expecting the multi parallel plots, with the crew of the Oregon all finding their intricate way to the common climax, but sadly, only Eddie Singh left the pack in this adventure. If I had of read this story before The Jungle, Corsair, and Silent Sea. I wouldn't have been waiting for the twists.
Having said that, this book is a really enjoyable book, with the bad guys getting there just deserts. Except, what about the 10 top banking officials and their greed? What became of them?
I recommend that readers start at the beginning and read the Oregon Files in order. That way you can watch the characters and corporation develop. Otherwise the first books will not have the depth expected from later books

The developing saga.......
