About this listen
2010 Book of the Year winner - Foreword Reviews magazine
A tale of gripping psychological horror!
When evil descends on a small West Virginia town, who will survive?
Jonathan did not start out his life to become a rambler; it just worked out that way. William was a troubled youth with something to hide. Both were from Melas, a small town tucked away in the West Virginia hills - a town where disappearances are happening more and more frequently.
After the suicide of a wanted serial killer, the townsfolk thought the nightmare was over. But when a centuries-old vampire is discovered, they find out the hard way it's just getting started.
Dark secrets can only stay hidden for so long, and when the devil comes to collect, there will be hell to pay. Can Jonathan and William find a way to stop the vampire before it's too late?
Find out in Darkened Hills!
Darkened Hills is a Gothic vampire novel written in the spirit of Dracula, with much more sinister characters and eroticism than the old Victorian classic.
This is book one of Darkened: The West Virginia Vampire Series by Gary Lee Vincent.

Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. When you first enter The Halloween Store, things seem normal. Fun and frightful decorations, ghastly costumes and masks of the season, and bags of candy galore. Then, as you travel farther into its shadowy depths, things begin to change. The air smells of damp autumn leaves and candle-scorched pumpkin. The shelves of All Hallows’ Eve fare grow darker and more disturbing. Strange and unsettling things of Halloweens past and present lurk amid the cobwebs and dust....

Each tale is a magic trick, luring you toward the light while leading you down an ever-darkening path. There is hope mingled with horror, and that s Chizmar s secret power. His storytelling always beats with a huge, passionate heart. Stephen King says he writes terrific stories served with a very large slice of disquiet pie, and with The Long Way Home, Richard Chizmar has taken his evocative and compelling storytelling to an entirely new level.

Story
Midnight. Some call it the witching hour. Others call it the devil’s hour. Here in the graveyard, midnight is a very special time. It is a time when ghostly spirits are at their strongest, when the veil between our world and theirs is at its thinnest. Legend has it, that while most of the world is asleep, the lack of prayers allow the spirits to communicate under the cover of darkness, among the headstones, their whispers rustling in the leaves of the old oak trees. But if you’re here in the graveyard, you can tell yourself it’s just the wind....

This is a extremely bad generic-knock-off of Salem's Lot by Stephen King. But in all fairness, the author actually do let you know that.
I WISH I COULD GIVE NO STARS FOR THE NARRATION. OMG-PLEASE DON'T TELL ME SHE IS STILL DOING AUDIO BOOKS.
Horrendous Narrative
