About this listen

Following the best-selling success of Dave's novel, Big Trouble, here is a hilarious new collection of columns from the writer critics have called "the funniest man in America."

What's been getting Dave Barry all worked up lately? What can possibly induce him to rise up - yes, actually out of his chair - in indignation? Well, lots of things. For instance: the plague of low-flow toilets; day trading and other careers that never require you to take off your bathrobe; the parent-misery quotient of school science fairs; pine-sap transfusions for tired Christmas trees; the real skinny on the IRS; Donald Trump; the airlines; and so much more.

Hilarious!

I loved this book. I listened to it with my teenage daughter from Amarillo, Texas all the way to Oregon. We laughed alot! What a wonderful and light book.

Funny but hard to follow

This is a collection of Barry's humor columns. It's funny, but the audio version is a little difficult to follow due to quick transitions.

Funny writing, awful narrator

I love Dave Barry, but this reader is one of the worst I have ever heard. His voice and inflection are incredibly annoying. I recommend "I'll mature when I'm dead" which Barry narrates himself. I wish Barry had narrated all of his books. Not all authors are skillful readers, but Barry is. This reader is terrible. I am halfway through and tempted to get it in print instead.

Highly amusing.

This book was my first exposure to Dave Barry. As with most of his books, this is a collection of columns and essays originally published in various magazines and newspapers. Here, his topics range from the inconvenience of low-flow toilets to back to school shopping to Thanksgiving Dinner to medicine comercials that don't really explain what the medicine is supposed to treat. I think my favorite ones though are the two essays discussing Barry's French vacation, where he discusses the American inability to blend into the Parisian cafe scene due to being unable to convincingly pronounce the French R, which he describes as the "secret French code letter."
Narrator Dick Hill does a surprisingly good job with this. I'd only been exposed to him thanks to the Magic Kingdom of Landover books, but he has a good voice for humorous reading as well. He had me laughing almost hard enough to pee my pants during the aforementioned French parts. Definitely worth the credit I spent on it.

Awsome book. Reader makes it better

This book is typical dave barry. And the reader just eccentuates (however u spell tht🤔) the humor. His overdramatic style fits the book perfectly. So overall this book and this reader go tgether perfactly

Hilarious

As always, Dave Barry is wry and hilarious. I actually enjoy this narration by Dick Hill better than those narrated by the author.

Dave fan

If you love Dave and and sarcastic humor this is your author. A classic collection of sardonic humor from the "booger" and "weasel" king.

An interesting and comical perspective on “the ordinary”.

Dave Barry’s perspective on things that happen normally is both interesting and hilarious. Also like the narrator very much. Understandable.
