Publisher's summary
But that's only the beginning! Dave has also included in this book all of the important points in a book written by Donald Trump, so you don't have to read it yourself. Plus he explains how to tip; how to negotiate for everything, including bridge tolls; how to argue with your spouse about money; and how much allowance to give your children (three dollars is plenty). He also presents, for the first time in print anywhere, the Car Dealership Code of Ethics ("Ethic Seven: The customer is an idiot"). Also there are many gratuitous references to Angelina Jolie naked. You can't afford NOT to buy this book! Probably you need several.

Story
We never know what will happen next in Florida. We know only that, any minute now, something will. Every few months, Dave Barry gets a call from some media person wanting to know, "What the hell is wrong with Florida?" Somehow, the state's acquired an image as a subtropical festival of stupid, and as a loyal Floridian, Dave begs to differ. Sure, there was the 2000 election. And people seem to take their pants off for no good reason. And it has flying insects the size of LeBron James. But it is a great state, and Dave is going to tell you why.

Couldn't even finish it!
What did you like best about Dave Barry's Money Secrets? What did you like least?
Best? Dave Barry's writing Worst? Narration was horrible!
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dick Hill?
Anyone! Dave Barry is sarcastic and dry. There is no need for added inflection and drama in the narration. I can not even finish the book because the narration is so irritating.
Any additional comments?
Don't spend your money on this narration.

Not one of Dave's best
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book.... I just enjoyed others so much more. Although I prefer Dave narrating, the narrator in this audiobook did not bother me incredibly. Maybe the subject matter.... money, finances, etc.... are just too try to even attempt livening up.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Funny
Did Dick Hill do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Not bad, but I still prefer Dave.
What did you take away from Dave Barry's Money Secrets that you can apply to your work?

Too whimsical and ungrounded in practical territory
I just couldn’t relate to the material. His take isn’t sufficiently intelligent to poke fun. And is more whimsical and over the top. I love things like freakonomics and misbehaving, but didn’t find this interesting or very funny.

I love Dave Barry's writing but I found the narrator so annoying that I couldn't listen to this for more than 10 minutes. He acts as if it's either a bad comedy sketch or an infomercial...too bad.

Be glad this is a short book
What a rant! Barry used to be really funny. Maybe he still is, but not in this book. Getting through the fist hour of this diatribe was painful, literally. He used to write absurdly on subjects he knew nothing about, and could be very amusing. but definitely NOT this time. Oh well, some times your the windshield and sometimes the .......

Irritating
I generally like Dave Barry and, maybe if I read this in paper form would still like him. I found the reader snarky, the tone irritating - like bad stand-up comedy. The content was infantile.
