About this listen

Conor Night, the world's only necromancer, has finally learned what it means to be the world's only necromancer. It’s a lesson he wishes he had never received, because thanks to him an ancient wizard with an apocalyptic agenda is back in business, ready to finish cleaning house.

Even worse? He’s the only one who can stop it.

He’s been living on a roll of the dice for years, but the stakes have never been higher, and the outcome never so clear: To save the world, he has to die.

EXCELLENT. EXCITING CONTINUATION OF SERIES.

Fast paced action. Conner, the last necromancer fighting to save the world from an ancient evil. The end of the evil means he had to sacrifice his own life. I do hope there will be a continuation of this series? Otherwise it is a sad ending indeed though he died a hero. M R Forbes is an excellent writer and Jeff Hays is a fantastic narrator/ performer with distinct voices for the various characters. Well worth the wait and the credit.

Seriously very good but too short series

Kudos to M. R. Forbes for writing an interesting, humorous and sometimes poignant series. His character choices for the immortals were chosen from many counties myths and lore and given enough backstory and character development to make them interesting to the telling. And before I forget, Jeff Hays' performance throughout ever-enhanced the listening experience. Normally I find special effect sound distracting but Soundbooth Theater effects were not over-done, except for Samedi's repeated echo-y "the power of a soul for the power of a soul".

There was a couple of open issues left unclear with the Houses and even Kirin's fit into society but Forbes hinted that there may be a follow-on work however that was 3 years ago so it still remains uncertain. In all, I still rank the Chaos of the Covenant series at the top of my M. R. Forbes series but Ghosts & Magic is up there in the top 5.

Magic, Humor, and this is the last...NO!!!

Dead End
Ghosts & Magic, Book 4
By: M. R. Forbes
Narrated by: Jeff Hays
I hate that this is the last book! I love this series but it ended like it should. I have been so satisfied with this series I am going to find another of this author's series and try those. This was excellent. Magic, humor, touch of romance, bringing the dead to life to do his work, lots of different creatures, lots of action, twists and turns, in game action, and so much more. It has everything a fantasy and sci-fi lover could want. I love the characters, the witty remarks, the cleverness, the plots, and all the twists that happened. I will miss this.
The narrator was wonderful and made me feel like I was part of the action. Great voices and sound effects. Well done!

Finale fun and action packed

I admit that the explanations of how exactly the magic, virtual world, world-ending and world-saving worked sometimes confused me. The villains were kind of one note, the changing-alliances plot device was overplayed, and I never managed to get the ear-wig of the narration making our MC sound like Charlie Sheen. This finale was still a fun ride, with more action than the previous three combined.

decent overall read

decent book from Forbes as usual. I just wish the main character was a little more likeable and the ending a little more clean and a little less 80s Jackson thriller music video
