About this listen

I have three confessions to make:

1. I've got the scar of a gunshot on my forehead.
2. I don't remember an entire year of my life.
3. My name is Kellen Adams...and that's half a lie.

Girl running...from a year she can't remember, from a husband she prays is dead, from homelessness and fear. Tough, capable Kellen Adams takes a job as assistant manager of a remote vacation resort on the North Pacific Coast. There amid the towering storms and the lashing waves, she hopes to find sanctuary. But when she discovers a woman's dead and mutilated body, she's soon trying to keep her own secrets while investigating first one murder...then another.

Now every guest and employee is a suspect. Every friendly face a mask. Every kind word a lie. Kellen's driven to defend her job, her friends, and the place she's come to call home. Yet she wonders - with the scar of a gunshot on her forehead and amnesia that leaves her unsure of her own past - could the killer be staring her in the face?

Confusing

I had to back up and relisten to parts where I thought I had missed some of the facts that were to have advance the plot, but there weren’t any. Not the best mystery since I really didn’t care to try to figure who the thief was. Just wanted it to hurry up and end.

A little confusing but very good

It does not matter if you are reading the book or listening to the audio version the chronology was very hard to follow. The jumps from past to present were necessary to the story development but it was very confusing. It would take a couple minutes with each jump to figure out if you were in the past or the present. Simply stating the month and year when in the past and “present day” with each jump would have made the transition completely seamless. I gave the story a 4 star rating because of that omission.

Vanessa Johansson is a great narrator and gave a flawless performance.

Liked the story, not fond of the narration

The story keeps you listening, but I wish they had multiple narrators to mimic the different characters.

Cheesy and unrealistic

You have to totally suspend all belief to enjoy this book. Seriously. And the narrator doesn’t do it any favors. She had a flat affect which makes the main character unlikeable. This is a fluff read. Not serious. And so cheesy. But it entertained me enough that I finished it. Wouldn’t listen to again.

If any book ever needed an epilogue...

it's this book! At least, _ I _ need an epilogue. I want more! Another great story by Christina Dodd. It kept me guessing. I do wish things had been wrapped up in more detail though.

Simply Inspiring!

There are many books among the bookcases in every nook of my home, and though this will not be "seen" on a shelf, my discovery of Audible's audiobooks has made them no less memorable or valued. THIS book, Dead Girl Running by Christina Dodd, will be among my treasured books in spirit. Full of twists and turns and a wealth of in-depth, interesting characters and a plot that will keep even the best "detectives" questioning until the very end, I highly recommend it! You will not be disappointed by the investment of your time and energy. Also, the narration by Vanessa Johansson, is superb. All around, a fabulous book. Well done!

Good idea, but not well written

The idea of the story was great. I enjoyed the characters and where it took place. I was in the military as was my husband and the constant mention of her service with the wrong terminology was REALLY ANNOYING. No one calls it the war zone, we call it down range..
I would have like a few more chapters to wrap up the weird ending, it wasn't quite enough information.
