This book was very different from what I usually listen to, preferring zombies and vampires to ghosts,. However, I really enjoyed this book.

What did you love best about Dead Medium?

The book was really unusual. It's a mystery, and kind of a ghost story and a hilarious character comedic novel all at the same time. May Trump is a sort of likable curmudgeon... plain talking, no nonsense and with a wicked dry sense of sarcasm. When she dies she finds herself able to communicate with the living and becomes embroiled with a group of madcap amateur mediums who are kind of like Madame Arcate from Blithe Spirit times four. The book is very, very funny and the narration only adds to the humor. It was a delightful story to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the characters - they are a great mixed bag of personalities. It really had the feel of a kind of Calendar Girls or Exotic Marigold Hotel kind of energy combined with the grouchy, lovable humor of MC Beaton's Agatha Raisin novels. May Trump is a fabulous character and the author manages to create surprising levels and emotional depth to the story despite the far-fetched supernatural premise.

Have you listened to any of Joel Froomkin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't... but this is excellent. He has a great sense of comedic style - it really feels like you're listening to a radio drama performed by a bunch of witty grande dames. He made me laugh out loud several times.

Who was the most memorable character of Dead Medium and why?

It would be pretty hard to choose someone other than May Trump. She's got a Maggie Smith cutting humor that is hilarious.

Any additional comments?

The cover of the book makes the novel seem more spooky than it is. It's really a cozy english comedic mystery which a cast of wacky, wonderful chapters. Not a scary or dark tale in the least.

I got this audiobook on a whim, and I am not disappointed at all! A fun tale of the other side mingling with our own, living one, and characters that will make you laugh out loud while you fall in love with them.

The narration is amazing. Sometimes I could swear I was hearing Maggie Smith, which pleased me to no end. He put emphasis in the dialog in a way that helped me to visualize the story.

I loved it, every little bit of it. One of my favorite things I've listened to this year.

I bought this book on a whim but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sometimes you need a book that makes you laugh and leave you with s smile.
The characters were interesting, colorful and fun.
I am just sad that there doesn't seem to be more in this vein in Peter John's catalogue on Amazon.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. The performance was diverse enough that knowing the different characters took no effort at all.

Pretty good once I got past the narration. It wasn’t bad narration, just the voice grated on me at first. Story is interesting and engaging.
