About this listen
The Deadland Saga: Book 1: 100 Days in Deadland; Book 2: Deadland's Harvest; Book 3: Deadland Rising (coming late 2014)
The seven deadly sins with a shambling twist.
It has been 100 days since the zombies claimed the world. Cash, along with 42 survivors, have found safety in the secluded and well-guarded Fox National Park. The leaves are changing colors, a beautiful, brutal reminder that winter is coming. As the survivors prepare for freezing months without electricity and not enough food, they learn of massive zombie herds several hundred miles north… and headed their way.
To save the park, Cash must find a place for the survivors to hide from the migrating herds. If Cash and her small band of volunteers don't succeed by winter, the Fox survivors just may become Deadland's Harvest.
Deadland's Harvest is a journey through Dante Alighieri's classic tale on the seven deadly sins... zombie apocalypse style!

Great series!
The Deadland series is excellent so far! I'm looking forward to book 3! Clutch, Cash, and the rest of camp fox have to relocate to avoid massive hoards of zeds coming their way! Of course, the zeds aren't their only problem. Excellent narration by Hollie Jackson! She does a great job with all the characters and emotions throughout the story!

Solid Sequel
I have to say, I enjoyed the sequel more than part one, and I enjoyed part one a lot. What I really enjoyed about book two is that the story focuses on the survivors against the undead instead of following a more traditional heroes vs. villains story. While there are certainly bad people in Deadland's Harvest, the story isn't hinged upon a single struggle. Instead, the story focuses on a sequence of various events and encounters that occur and push the characters to their limits, and force them to commit or face one of the seven deadly sins. All the events and struggles of the characters seem to be pushed along by the growing horde of undead.
While the author does a fine job of approaching the seven deadly sins, you can enjoy just reading this book and disregarding any and all relation to Purgatorio. There is a lot of creative original storytelling to be found here. Without the literary references, Deadland's Harvest would still stand as a fine apocalyptic story. The main characters are well-rounded and relatable. They continue to grow and evolve as people throughout the series. The secondary character development could have been stronger for some characters. In one instance, a secondary character died but the character is mostly developed post-mortem, so the moment kind of fell a bit flat for me. Later in the story, another secondary character that was well-developed died, and that moment was intense and emotional.
Still, I'd call this series a must-read for any fan of zombie fiction. It's a well-polished story, with a great plot, and strong character development.

seven deadly sins and zombies
100 days ago, zombies consumed most of the living population with the exception of pockets of survivors. Like with most zombie books, there are bandits and evil humans who prey on those not yet eaten by the wandering zombies.
Supplies are scarce; trust is even scarcer. Cash, Klutch and Jayse are the main characters that discover there are herds of zombies – tens of thousands – headed straight toward their home in Fox National Park. In a leap of faith, a fellow colony of survivors is contacted and they generously share the broken and abandoned barges and other boats in their area. The downside is the group must repair them, stock them and move their colony there in under two weeks. Although their plans are set and they have contingency plans – Aukes throws in several twists that have the listener cautioning the characters knowing that things are not as they seem (nothing like yelling “don’t go in there” while driving solo in a car!). Aukes does an excellent job of bringing in the seven deadly sins and using the zombies and their situation to demonstrate them.
Well written, character developments were strong and made one gasp when their situation was revealed. I was confused for a few minutes – it was not apparent, as I did not read book 1) that the zombie apocalypse occurred 100 days ago – so I was struggling to figure out why there were so many shortages. One example of Aukes clever writing and playing on emotions – she has a 10 year old boy with downs syndrome talking down a vengeful father hell bent on revenge. In his innocence, he prevents bloodshed.
Hollie Jackson narrated the book; she did an excellent job with voices and reading concisely. Her energy level helped keep the realness present. There were no production issues.
Love zombies? Love to root for the underdog? This story has it all – highly recommend this audiobook!

Wonderful story!
It had been sometime since I had listened to the first book 100 Days in Deadland so I went back and listened to it before starting Deadland's Harvest and I'm happy that I did. It refreshed my mind and everything about the first story.
Author Rachel Aukes has written another great story about zombies. Rachel has done it again, completely left me intrigued, immersed, and on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story. She also pulled at my heart so many times. The first book was really good yet Deadland's Harvest is even better. Rachel doesn't disappoint with this story. I really enjoyed the authors take on zombies and the creative world she has written. I loved being back in the world with Cash, Jace, and Clutch. Rachel doesn't disappoint on her second installment Deadland and the story is filled with action throughout the entire story. The author even uses the seven deadly sins, the third and ffinal book promises to explore the seven virtues. But, the use of the seven deadly sins doesn't interfere with what the author has written and it doesn't hurt the story at all. I found that it sparked my interest.
Hollie Jackson's performance of Deadland's Harvest is great! I've listened to many books that Hollie has narrated and I've enjoyed them all but I love her skills and the work she's done for the two audios by Rachel Aukes. Hollie brings life into each each character. Hollie keeps you on the edge of your seat as you listen and brings the story to life, making everything feel so real. I highly, highly recommend you get both audiobooks, 100 Days on Deadland and Deadland's Harvest and listen to them in order. I guarantee you won't regret the purchase.

Exciting second book
Wow, this second installment was definitely action packed from beginning to end. Camp Fox just can’t seem to catch a break. It was a relief to see Clutch improving from his devastating injuries but equally devastating at the loss of a couple of very well liked side characters.
This book, to me, had a few inconsistencies, for the life of me I don’t remember the introduction of Cash being the pilot scout. That was a Time jump. I missed.
Some other things in the story were very satisfying, very gratifying to see Doyle get what was coming to him .
I am definitely moving on quickly to the next book .
