Pretty Good Book

This was an interesting book. I loved the action and the plot. The mystery was in depth and full of twists and turns. I didn’t see the end coming, and I was a little surprised by who the killer was. I had my eye on two different people for the fear induced murders, but I was wrong. I was intrigued and full of anxiety for the people involved. I kept thinking, no, not this person, or the person, and was really glad to have a good ending even though some of it was a little messed up at the end. I was like really, this happened, and then I was relieved when it all turned out well.

The only complaint I truly have about this book is all the sexual action. I don’t usually have trouble with sensuality and sex in novels, but it seemed like this book and the others after it was full of sex. It’s kind of hard to accept a sexual relationship between people who don’t really know each other. I think the problem was the fact that there was no build up, no real tension, no relationship building until after the characters had engaged in the act. Not to mention, I like to get to know characters well before all the intimacy starts. It makes me understand the interplay and the interest that is there. It also makes me understand why a couple begin to care for each other and share an act that I often associate with caring if not love. Maybe I’m a little naïve and old fashion, but I think that’s the way it should be even in books :).

The reader was good. I loved her intonations and the way she builds the characters with her voice and reading abilities.

Overall, it was a good book and I was so ready to start the next book that I forgot to write the review before I started the next book.

Fifty shades of Deadly Fear

Any additional comments?

The thriller aspect of the book was good-nice plot. It really should be categorized as a romantic/erotic thriller. The amount of sex was kind of silly and comprised 50% of the narrative. I found the numerous descriptors of male genitalia entertaining, especially compared to the fact only one was used for it's female counterpart(her "sex").
And really....erotic thriller? To each their own I guess.

Great New Series

Just what I was looking for in a new series. Could not put it down once I started. Can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Deadly Fear Book 1

This was pretty good! I am not a huge fan of suspenseful romance books because I usually struggle with the balance between the suspense and the romance, but I was in the mood for one. I think that Cynthia Eden does a good job at that balance! She keeps me engaged with the suspense and also provides me enough steam and romance to keep me engaged in their relationship as well! BUT -- I would have liked some more about how they were before. We get implications and mentions of their past, but I wanted to understand it more! I really like the build up part in a relationship, and because they already had done that when the story started it seemed like something was missing. I get it -- we didn't really have time to dwell on that, but it just kind of bothered me. Another thing is the lack of a HEA. I know this is the beginning of a series, so maybe we'll get more about them later -- but why not a glimpse into their future? I know these two beefs I have come from the romance reader in me, and this is a suspense book as well...so maybe I just need to let them go

good story , not the greatest narrator

Pros
I really enjoyed the story and i like the characters. Even though it was pretty clear who was behind it all fairly early in the book, it still kept up the suspense and "what's going to happen next" tension.

Cons
The love scenes were a little hokey but i tend to dislike having too much of good "suspense thriller" book space wasted on steamy love scenes.
But the biggest problem i had with narration was the highly overdone fake southern accents. It's rather insulting to the south and to the characters in the book.

Having said that .. i really like Cynthia Eden's books and she remains one of my favorite authors. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I may, however, return the audible books and switch over to kindle to finish it.

Terrible Narrator

I am abandoning this half way through - I just can't get past the narrator. She sounds like an elderly lady and this book calls for a younger sounding voice. The story sounds like it could be good but I can't concentrate on it because of the narration.

Good book

Would you consider the audio edition of Deadly Fear to be better than the print version?

Didn't read print version so don't know

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes it was interesting but a little predictable

What three words best describe Justine Eyre’s performance?

Not good with male voice characters...almost ruins it. But female character voices are ok

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it kept me going until the end which it started to be a little predictable and it is irritating when i can figure out who the killer is and the trained agents are not really suspicious of him...always someone else they are focusing on...kind of gets tired

Any additional comments?

I did enjoy the book but needs to have both female and male narrators or have a different narrator because this narrator makes the male lead very unattractive almost painful to listen to that voice

The narrating could be better

Any additional comments?

The narrator makes the love scenes seem comical. I read the first part of the book and it did not seem ridiculous yet when Justine Eyre reads it, I laughed. I like her reading the rest of the book but the love scenes…not so much.

More sex than story

The story would have been much more intriguing if there had been more story and less sex. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy sex scenes in stories; however, there are so many sex scenes that it's difficult to keep track of what's happening in the story.
