About this listen

The whispers may scare you . . .

In River Glen, Oregon, rumors are spreading about the Babysitter Stalker. One victim was fatally stabbed. A second fell—or was pushed—from a rooftop deck. High school sophomore Jamie Whelan, scheduled to watch the Ryerson twins tonight, isn't worried. She's more interested in the party she'll go to later, as soon as her sister Emma arrives to take over babysitting duties. But nothing goes according to plan . . .

But the truth . . .

Twenty years after that night's vicious attack, Emma remains scarred in body and mind. Jamie, back in River Glen after their mother's death, still feels guilty over trading places that fateful evening. Then suddenly another young babysitter is attacked. Jamie, with a teenage daughter of her own, fears something much more twisted than coincidence.

Is even more terrifying . . .

Is this new nightmare connected with those long-ago crimes? Emma's fractured memories may contain the answer. But the deeper Jamie digs, the darker the secrets waiting to be uncovered—and avenged . . .

The story is entertaining with unexpected moments. I did get irritated with the repetitiveness of the events leading up to Emma’s attack. The narrator was so drab that I won’t be listening to the installments in this series because she narrates all of them.

Good Story, Eh Narrator

my only dislike really is the narrator. she just sounds like a schoolgirl to me, and at first it's hard to get past, but once you do, you can really get into the storyline. great characters, riveting storyline that keeps you interested through the entire book. you get to the end and think hey, this was a pretty good book, I'll let my reading friends know about it, and then ...BAM!!! A twist you never would've thought was coming! so if this book hadn't made you happy about your choice of books before this part, I'm pretty sure that will! Happy Reading yall!!

An ending you'll never see coming

the story is pretty good and I wanted to hear it all. the narrator mispronounces a lot of words and her rhythm is awful. I wish there had been a producer having her correct her performance. please learn how to pronounce words.

narrator is not quite awful

The narrator in my opinion wasn’t fitting for the story, I had trouble getting into the book. Second problem, sometimes it was a little hard to follow who was who. No parts of the book is in first person but pronouns and descriptive nouns change as if it IS in first person, suddenly which then makes you realize the point of view of the character in this particular chapter has changed. Such as the main character Jamie will suddenly be referred to as Mom nothing else changes narrative-wise except it’s telling you what is going on with the daughter Harley but it’s NOT Harley telling the story. Imagine telling a story about a Bob then suddenly refer to him as Dad even though he’s not your Dad is sort of how it sounds in this narrative. Once I got through the hiccups I finally got into the story and the twist and turns made a great story!

Good story but….

Storyline was great. Was that a real person reading it or .ai? Pronunciations inconsistent. Weird pauses. Like “she picked it, up and, took a, breath.” Almost abandoned listening due to this.

Good story, robotic reader.

Narrator is terrible. Sounds like an AI narrator. I feel like I would have done a better job lol. But the story is great. I almost didn’t listen because of the narration but glad I toughed it out.

Terrible narration but good story!

I liked the book very much. The narrator however, was not awesome. I felt like my 8th grade English teacher was reading it aloud.

Great story

Unnecessarily long and overly descriptive. The story is a good one but my god does it take a while to get to the heart of it.

Get to it already…
