About this listen

The island fishing village of Eastport has plenty of salty local character. It also has a sweet side, thanks to Jacobia "Jake" Tiptree, her best friend Ellie, and their waterfront bake shop, The Chocolate Moose. This summer, Eastport's favorite lovebirds, kindergarten teacher Sharon Sweetwater and Coast Guard Captain Andy Devine‚ are getting married. The gala reception is sure to be the fête of the season, especially with a wedding-cake-sized whoopie pie.

For Jake and Ellie, the custom-ordered confection will finally reel in some much-needed profits. But the celebratory air, and sweet smell of success‚ are ruined by foul murder. When Sharon's ex-boyfriend is poisoned with an arsenic-laced milkshake, Andy is jailed as the prime suspect, and the wedding is cancelled‚ whoopie pie and all.

Then Sharon makes a shocking - and fishy - confession and ends up behind bars, too. With the fate of The Chocolate Moose at stake, it's up to Jake and Ellie to catch the poisonous predator before someone else sips their last dessert.

Fun!

I love the grandma in the Stephanie Plum. This series has a grandpa who really made the story.

Masterful suspense!

This story is captivating! Plenty of detail to keep the listener interested. The narrator has a beautiful clear voice, with very good enunciation. Perhaps on the next book, however, she could be slightly less stilted and a little more fluid. Over all, a thoroughly enjoyable listen!

Decent listen but....

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and excused some poor choices but in this book Jake seems to just keep making poor decisions and is honestly a little annoying. No one can really be that naive. I didn't guess who the murderer was though and it was interesting to find out the motive. I feel like there were times that as a reader I wanted to yell at her and go how is this a smart decision, stop babying him (about her dad) or just tell the cops. I did finish the book and enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll be continuing on at least not with the books at full price. I enjoyed the author overall but a few words she said really rubbed me wrong, but maybe I've just been saying them wrong my entire life.

One of the truly best Cozy Mysteries

Sarah Graves and Susan Boyce are the team to beat. You are one of the best.

Love the bases of this series--Characters and Setting are beguiling . Book 2 is better then Book 1 (which was a hit). Please keep them coming.

Another visit to Eastport

I'm always glad to visit Jake, Ellie and the city of Eastport. The characters and plot are always well developed and well written. Like the other books I have read by Sarah Graves, the mystery has several twists and turns that keep the story enjoyable. The only thing I didn't like is Joyce Bean. I wish Lindsay Ellison was narrating this series. She does a very good Maine accent.

Great book

This new series, a continuation of the Home Repair series, is really delicious - and delightful.
I so want to visit the shop and try all the scrumptious sweets - especially that chocolate malt shake. Oh my YUM! (and I don’t really like chocolate ice cream) LOL

Who really killed the bad guy - I was guessing and working with all the clues being sorted out. I never did figure it out completely until it was presented to us at the end. It was a wonderful maze of clues and mayhem.

And I was so grateful for all the loose ends being tied up cleaning at the end. And how all the strings of information were loosely woven around and intertwined until their connections were brought to a clean conclusion at the end.

Ready for another Sarah Graves mystery - wouldn’t mind a Mousse recipe book someday. 😃

LOVE THE READ - STILL ACCLIMATING TO THE NEW

I ENJOYED THIS READ AND GETTING REACQUAINTED WITH THE CHARACTERS. I HAVE READ EVERY BOOK IN THIS SERIES; SO JAKE THE CHOCOLATE SHOP OWNER VS. JAKE THE REPAIR PERSON TAKES A LITTLE GETTING USED TO. SARAH GRAVES DOES A GREAT JOB WITH BOTH, AND THE LEECH/WATER SCENE HAD ME SQUIRMING. THE 4 STAR FOR THE STORY IS BECAUSE WADE WAS SO ABSENT AMIDST ALL THE DRAMA. SURE, THERE IS THE DINNER AND THE EVENTS AT THE END, BUT HE (AND HER ENTIRE FAMILY) ARE MISSING WHEN SHE IS SEDATED FOR SURGERY? THAT BOTHERED ME. BUT NEVER FEAR, THE BOOK IS A GOOD ONE.
