About this listen
Krissy Hancock runs a bookstore-café in Pine Hills, Ohio, but she'll be setting up shop as a sleuth when she discovers a long-unsolved murder....
Krissy's helping a friend clean out her late mother's house when she learns that although the deceased died peacefully at an advanced age, her brother did not. In fact, Wade was killed more than 30 years ago, and the case was never closed. What surprises Krissy even more is that she has a personal connection to the story - her friend Rita was seeing Wade at the time, scandalizing the town with the couple's large age difference.
With an older Rita now part of Krissy's writing group - and another member with police experience - she starts digging up gossip, talking to the victim's local coffee klatsch, and trying to find real clues amid the old rumors. But things just seem to grow muddier as she fights to identify whodunit....

Love that it is a cold case!
A cold case from 30 years ago, is coming to light now that Elenor has passed. Her brother was murdered. also boyfriend to the town gossip queen, Rita, when she was 19 years old. Krissy is getting into everyone’s past so she can bring closure to Rita and in honor of Elenor, her sneaky, now dead neighbor. She is looking into the past of the coffee boys and how they liked and disliked each other. Some a little more than others. Will she find the killer?, is the killer still alive? Krissy is on the case, with help from Paul, the cheifs son and hottie, maybe something else. They are confronting history and unraveling the truth.

Recording is much too soft
The recording was so soft in volume that I had to sit almost in front of it In order to hear. No this was not my device! I tried the book on more than 1 device. Also none of the other books I have Has this problem. You're engineer Needs to do More when recording.

The main character
The main character in this series has no growth makes the story of this particular book. Very irritating going to read the next one hoping it will be better.

disappointed
couldn't finish it. likeable pets. that was good. but I need to be able to admire my heroines. I could tell the author tried, but she had no moral core. I don't think the only requirement for a relationship should be sexual chemistry. morals are important. I'm returning this book and going back to the Blue sword and out of the silent planet and Mrs pollifax

Won’t be listening to others in the series
The main character was simply ridiculous. A self appointed sleuth who went about interrogating people who had no reason to answer her questions. Her blatant disregard for the police telling her to stop butting in and then resulting in another death without any self awareness that she caused it was laughable. The police reaction to her self appointed detective role was equally pathetic and unrealistic. It was frankly hard to listen to the entire book.
