About this listen

When Fergus Macleod, Lochdubh's abusive, drunk dustman is put in charge of the local recycling center, Hamish Macbeth smells trouble. Sure enough, Fergus, imbued with his new powers, becomes a bullying tyrant. When his body is found stuffed in a recycling bin, no one is sorry - including his long-suffering family. But Macbeth is surprised to find that many of the despicable dustman's victims refuse to talk - and when violence strikes again, the lanky lawman must quickly unearth the culprit among a litter of suspects... before the killer makes a clean getaway!

Laugh out loud funny- best book of the series

I am a huge fan of the Hamesh series and this may be my favorite one. Some scenes are laugh-out loud funny while others really shine at showing the humanity of Hamesh. This one is a winner :)

I miss the previous narrator

I miss the Scottish brogue. The narrator, Grindel, brought more life to the story especially the humorous lines. But I am still hooked on this series.

Another great read

Hamish Macbeth never gets old. The book has twisting plots and wonderful characters. British humor as well.

Wonderful series

This series is so interesting, funny and does give one a view of life in the Scottish Highlands. M.C. Beaton does have a gift for story telling of great characters. There are many books in this Wonderful series, but for me, I can only listen to a Hamlish Macbeth tale as read by ‘Graeme Malcolm’.
He is the reader starting at book 16, I tried to listen to other narrators in books 1-15, but I can’t, not the same or as enjoyable without Mr. Malcolm.
(Same with the Agatha Raisin series by Beaton; best and only narrator for me is Penelope Keith).
Enjoy

Hamish at his best

Once again it is Hamish that solves the murders. Even though he's accused of being lazy, it is always Hamish that puts all the pieces together to solve the murder mysteries. I do miss narrator Shaun Grindell greatly. I loved his Scottish accent when doing the voice of Hamish. This narrator wasn't too bad, just not as enjoyable. As with the other books in the series, they can be read in order or as a stand alone novel. You would think the town was running out of people to be killed after all these books.

one of the best

This is one of the best of the series. While there are several implausible events, there is also some well-written prose. The characters, including the familiar ones, are just a bit more than one expects.

G Malcom is amazing!

Brings Hamish and other characters to life. It’s fun listening to the way of life in the Scottish highlands.
