About this listen

Destined for Dover, Miss Pym has her matchmaking work cut out for her when she encounters the pretty but hoydenish Lady Deborah Western! Encouraged by an unruly twin brother, the spirited, golden-haired Deborah seems set on dressing and acting the tomboy, much to the dismay of her handsome neighbor, the Earl of Ashton....

To Deb, the Earl is a dull stick, always lecturing on the behavior of a proper lady. But her desire to fish, hunt, and ride astride is quickly replaced with more romantic notions when the tall, green-eyed Earl challenges her to a horse race and wins himself an unforgettable kiss. Miss Pym is certain the stunned girl is quite ready for more feminine pursuits; and with the help of her clever maneuverings, Lady Deborah will soon be well and truly matched - perhaps even to the Earl himself!

I loved the series. Hannah Pimm is a wonderful character. Unique supporting characters with great narration.

Last of the series, I wish there were more.

Matchmaking Miss Hannah Pym has decided to see the sea again by traveling to Dover. She meets up with a great group of characters after her footman gets himself involved in a prize fight to pay off a gambling debt.
Deborah and her twin brother Will are amongst the crowd watching the fight. They meet Miss Pym after she tries to stop it with her trusty umbrella. This part had me laughing out loud. The Earl of Ashton convinced her she had to leave them fight. She ends up making friends with him, the twins, and the other stagecoach passengers.
There were, of course, other shenanigans and adventures throughout this book that had me laughing quite a bit! Especially over Benjamin’s ex employer, Lady Carsey, who tried again to seek revenge on Hannah and Benjamin.

No spoilers... but gasp... that ending. The pace of this series has definitely picked up in the last two p
books.

If you like light Romance-Mystery you'll love this 5th book in the series of "The Traveling Matchmaker".

Deborah Goes to Dover has more twists and turns than a mountain road, with surprises along the way. You'll laugh and cry as Miss Pym continues her adventures.

As always Helen Lisanti gives us a great performance.

I highly recommend Deborah Goes to Dover. Although it's best to start with Book 1 and follow the series, because old characters are brought back as new characters are introduced, but each book can stand alone.

Another Great Read in This Series

The reason I gave this, book 4, four stars is that there were some blaring mistakes. A couple of words were used that had the totally wrong meaning and a couple of times characters were switched. For example, Hannah will have just gone up to her room, and then suddenly she’s in somebody else’s room and you realize the author didn’t catch the fact that she used the wrong name and that it’s a different character she was trying to talk about. I am surprised that neither the author nor the reader realized it...

Still it was thoroughly enjoyable and a fun romp! I’m a little bit sad that each book keeps getting a little bit more crass as we go along, but I also think that that’s her way of showing us that times that she’s trying to portray.

Still full of very interesting facts about the era!

Still just so much fun!

I'm still following Ms. Pym. She hops on the stage I must go with her. I so love this series. This one had me laughing more than the last one. Ms. Pym is still collecting friends and matchmaking along the way. Her footman Ben is still knee deep in foolishness. Mrs. Carsey is still trying to get revenge for not seeing Ben get hung and bonus she's still mad that Ms. Pym nearly burned her house down.

More Adventures More Shenanigans
