About this listen

When you read this book, you will think you know every twist in the tale.

Maria is on trial for attempted murder.

She has confessed to the crime and wanted her husband dead.

Lottie is on the jury, trying to decide her fate.

She embarks on an illicit affair with a stranger, and her husband can never find out.

You will think you know who is guilty and who is innocent.

You will be wrong.

A gripping, sexy and twisty novel for readers who devoured ANATOMY OF A SCANDAL, APPLE TREE YARD and HE SAID/SHE SAID.

I don’t typically like courtroom dramas, but this one is very different and held my interest throughout. What unexpected twists! It’s definitely worth a credit.

This was a great legal thriller with a heavy sprinkling of domestic suspense. I couldn’t put it down. I read a lot in this genre so my standards are high. Definitely worth a credit.

So good!

This book had me intrigued from the beginning and had me captivated through out the story! Interesting turn of events although I saw it coming towards the end. Highly recommended!

Great and intriguing and captivating book

This was a brilliant novel, a must for lovers of crime with the court room setting, and the descriptions of inhumanity and the twists to follow made it a great read.

Fantastic Stiry

On average I listen to 3 books a week and I have to say this one just sucked me in almost from the start. Really well written and you can't help but to emotionally invest in each characters. The narrator did a great job too. Hard to believe this is the author's first. WELL DONE!!!

The best for me in 2019 so far!!

This book starts off with a bang. A wife calls 911 to report that she has killed her husband and she's happy that he's dead, only to later learn that her husband survived the gruesome attack.

Courtroom drama follows, with a riveting storyline that focuses on an aggressive prosecutor, a compelling defense, and jury transgressions.

The last portion of the book was even stronger than the beginning of the book, resulting in a "WOW!" ending that made this book a winner. The middle of the book, however, lacked sizzle and would have benefited from some editorial cuts and that is why this book failed to earn a 5-star review from me. Specifically, I felt that much too much time was devoted to the juror Lottie and her extra-marital affair with another juror.

The book's narrator was superb.

THE VERDICT: Overall, I enjoyed this book and I look forward to listening to the author's future titles.

Riveting!

Originality took this book from a 2 to a 3, but the story was tedious and the characters not especially likable. I love legal dramas, but this isn't a great one.

Different, but average.

Nothing surprising here. You knew who it was well before the end. What a waste of money.

This book was so predictable.
