Publisher's summary

Vaughn Johansson is the Nashville Assassins' star player. He's brash, cocky, and talented. And he isn't afraid to let anyone know it. He lives his life on his own terms, never forming romantic attachments, and only allowing his very closest to see his true, caring self.

Brie Soledad has the weight of the world on her shoulders. As the staff reporter for the Assassins, she balances her high-profile job and its heavy travel schedule with being the sole provider for her adult brother with Down syndrome. Sure, she'd like to find love. But who has time for that when there are bills to pay?

Brie has been the match to Vaughn's gasoline since the day she first held out her microphone to him. They strike sparks off each other, keeping their friends, the team, and the Assassins fans in stitches. Brie's refusal to fawn over Vaughn sets his teeth on edge and his blood boiling. Especially in that body part....

Brie's been let down by love before, but she knows she deserves nothing less than real, forever love. Vaughn's past has left deep, hidden scars, and there are some secrets he cannot bear to reveal. As much as Brie wants him, Vaughn may be too big a risk for her wary heart to take.

Love at last!

I am so glad that they found love at last. Hazel really messed my boy up.

Finally the series is coming back!

OK thank goodness, I was really struggling with these last few books and the added drama that didn’t need to be there.

This book still had “bad” things happen to the character but it was dwelled upon like in other books. It flowed a lot better.

I really liked Vaughn and Brie’s back and forth it felt genuine and funny. Even authentic at times and I think that was what I missed in other books in this series it felt like we had that in the first 3 then something went wrong and downhill but it seems to be back on the mend.

I liked the relationship Brie has with her brother and even though the way Vaughn first went about it was wrong I like that he really did have Rod’s best interest at heart.

Again thank you for the new narrator she really does a better job in my opinion she sounds young and breathes new life into this series. I am actually looking forward to listening to the next book.

Opposites attract!

The stories from the Nashville Assassins hockey team have always been some of my favorites, and this audiobook was great listening. The hero is Vaughn, one of the rough defensemen, a lady’s man with a fear of commitment. The heroine is a spunky woman who is the teams newswoman on-air, interviewing team members after the games. She has a grown brother with Downs Syndrome and the author handled the whole disability issue with great grace and understanding. Usually, Vaughn and she bump heads and insult each other, but as we later see, it was just a mask for mutual attraction. When Vaughn has a secret come out because of her brother things start to change for the two for the better. Can Vaughn get over his issues with commitment? Narration was excellent.

Enjoyable listen

I have listened to most of the books in this series and find them enjoyable when I need a mindless listen. These stories are easy going love stories that don't wear your brain out, but help you relax and listen. Despite this being the 10th book in the series, Also always manages to put some kind of new spin on her stories. I knocked the story down a star just because of the length of the book. I don't think it needed to be so long to get the story told. Overall I recommend listening if you want a fun, mindless listen.

Love the assassin's series but what happened???

I have listened to this whole series but these last three books have been hard to get through. Lucy Malone did such a fabulous job on the first 10 or so books it was amazing work. Then the switch to Jillian Macie for the last three was awful. It almost comes out like it's from a different author. Child like tones ..... she sounds like a teenager . Toni starts Writing about farts and just a bunch of childish filler crap to make the book kind of disgusting nothing like the first 9 or 10 in the series. As a reader / audio listened you become very invested in the characters. Now they are nothing like the beginning. It's sad. One more to go thank God my ears hurt. Glad it's free on the romance package but wow i lost a lot of time just to get an ending to the characters i loved at the beginning..
