Publisher's summary

Jack Stratton's back is up against the wall. He's broke, kicked off the force, and his new bounty hunting business has slowed to a trickle. With no money coming in, Jack's license to carry suspended, and no good job prospects on the horizon, Jack's got it tough. He thinks things are turning around when Alice (aka Replacement) gets a lucrative job setting up a home data network. That is, until he discovers it's for a handsome, jet-setting software tycoon. The "boy billionaire" as Jack grudgingly refers to him, takes a liking to computer-savvy Alice. Jealous, Jack thinks life can't get any worse, but when the computer program the CEO invented becomes the key tool in an international data heist, things turn deadly. In this digital age of hackers, spyware, and cyber terrorism--data is more valuable than gold. The thieves plan to steal the keys to the digital kingdom and with this much money at stake, they'll kill for it. Can Jack and Alice stop the pack of ruthless criminals before they can Data Jack?

I'm satisfied

I've read or listened to the rest of the titles in the Jack series.this story was fresh a different direction from the others yet stays connected to them. I feel connected to the characters and it was nice to finally see see that Jack to have a character flaw. I make him more relatable. while the other stories were great I think because of the new feel to this story I really enjoyed it more .this one I would recommend to anyone. thank you for the thrilling ride I looked forward to the next story in this series ,which I already have, cant wait to get into it.

Really, satisfying!

Like adding mint to ice tea! Christopher Greyson concocts the perfect drink of detective, mystery, romance and comedy. Must say the narrator is top notch and adds so much to the cocktail. Thanks so much!....terri

Well written but not my cup of tea ...

Based on a series with many readers and high reviews, I purchased Data Jack in the WhisperSync format. Reading the commercial briefs about the flavor of the Detective Jack Stratton, series, I expected a more hardened protagonist - maybe like Mike Connelly’s Harry Bosch. Much to my surprise I found the characters to be rather naive. As a former military operative and police detective, Jack seemed to be overly innocent. In my opinion, Jack’s past deeds and the current context of the drama didn’t seem to match either Jack or Alice as characters.

I mostly listened to the entire novel as performed by Andrew Tell. Tell's an excellent performer with a range of voices. However, his voice characterizations of both Jack and Alice made them seem almost like high-schoolers cast in a serious crime drama. Because the characters seemed to be portrayed in such a young way, I took an intermission to check reviews to see if I missed something - thinking this series might be a PG or G crime series for younger readers. Anecdotally, one reviewer's comment stood out: “Jack’s romantic relationship with ‘ eplacement' is PG at worst and the language is mostly G rated. The fact that the author can write a good mystery novel without resorting to gratuitous sex and foul language illustrates his talent.” Not that I need bad language or gratuitous sex but I expected a little more hardened flavor to the book

I’m not going to rate this book poorly because it’s not my cup of tea. Data Jack was well-written and the story did have both mystery and action. Rather, the blame for not liking the book should be mostly mine. Accordingly, I’ll try my best to be fair in the “stars” portion of my review.

Loved it

Fun, romantic, no filth. Great job with all the characters. Couldn’t help rooting for some and wanting to beat the snot out of others. Best part of all is Alice and Jacks relationship. The chemistry, bumps, bruises, woops, downs and ups r amazing. Throw n the fact that I love dogs and he does this one so well.

Jack Stratton to the rescue!

This newest addition to the Jack Stratton series is as expected; good , light and fast paced. I really enjoyed this, I just wish these books were a little longer.
In this book Jack is working as a bounty hunter and Replacement is working for a billionaire. Meanwhile as Jack is earning little things at Replacement's job are getting dangerous. People are getting hurt and Jack's apartment is broken into. They know someone on the job with Replacement is doing something underhanded and Jack is kind of on the job, nothing official but... add in some corporate espionage, some guns a few guys with Russian accents a little romance and you have a very entertaining book.
Andrew Tell does an excellent job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
